Glenn & Crystal Folks:

Have you a Crystal users mailing list?

If not, what do you think about?

Anyway, thank you very much for your wonderful Crystal!!!

I'm exploring evolving & organic music and Crystal 2.1 is a really interesting tool...

About presets: what kind of patches are you looking for, Glenn?

Crystal is truely amazing - takes a bit of figuring out (which I still haven't done completly) though!

I love it - can you guys imagine what a commercial plugin from glen would look like!? Shocked

I just found this interview to Glenn Olander

http://www.osxaudio.com/index.php?story=191

Excerpt:

"Q: What other Plugins or Synths are you working on or have planned?

Glenn: I'm working on enhancing Crystal. I've got some ideas for new waveforms and new synthesis techniques, and of course the OS X version is coming shortly. At this point it has been downloaded over 15,000 times. With that many people using it, I'd like to see an on-line community grow around Crystal, with people sharing patches and ideas."

A mailing list is very useful to allow a community to grow around a creative piece of software.

Examples:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/syntheditusers/

etc etc

how about a crystal forum here? unless glenn wants to do something that's directly affiliated w the crystal site, that'd seem like a great idea.

A forum for Crystal users sounds like a good idea to me, so I've created such a group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/crystal-users/

If you have a moment, visit that link and sign up. I expect it will be a place where we can swap ideas about using Crystal, trade patches, and discuss future directions for Crystal. I'll get things started this week by sharing some of my own tips and tricks for using Crystal. If you're looking for help using Crystal, this group will be great place to ask questions since other people will see and benefit from the answers.

As extra incentive to join, anyone who signs up this week will get early access to Crystal 2.2.

Yeah, that's how I plan to kick things off this week. I'll be posting a series of messages about tips and tricks I use when creating Crystal patches.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I was careful to be very explicit in the description so people don't get the wrong idea Smile.

and it seems Crystal lovers are a lot!!!

87 members after 24 hours!!!

Definitely we all needed a place to meet, share and learn!!!

Maybe after some time a Crystal style of music will exist...

After to read his introduction at mailing list
I feel Glenn wants to introduce the soul in the machine...

Holy Smoke!

Now it has 110 members, and 'tis only 4 days old.

By comparison, the Roland JP8000/8080 group has 374 members - but it's 4 YEARS old... Laughing

Darn, it looks like the secret of Crystal is out... I told y'all to shudup 'bout it, but oh now, you just HAD to blab about the synth, eh?

Very Happy
