Have you listened to the demos on the Creamware site?

IMO, it wasn't the closest guitar emulation I've ever heard (some of the Giga multi-sampled guitars seem better for that). String bending in particular sounds a bit synthesized. That being said, after listening to the demos, I'm not sure that's the point--I thought it had a cool sound and feel of its own. There's a neat "sitar-ish" sound towards the end of the "virtual born" demo that caught my ear. I liked the second bass sound on the "six string bass" demo as well (the first one sounds like a synth to me).

I agree that a multisampled instrument will probably get you closer to a realistic ”keyboard guitar”, especially if you run it through something like Amplitube.

As physical modeling emulations go, I still think the Oasys plucked string models are the best I’ve heard.

You can hear some examples on Korg’s Oasys site (check out the Guitar/Plucked links):

www.korg.com/oasyspci_synth_demos.htm

Here’s an electric guitar example (this is from the Oasys section at www.zargmusic.com ):

I heard that Oasys won't run on 2000/XP systems, though. Is this true?

I h eard the 6-string at NAMM, and a guitar it ain't. It does create some cool sounds though.

ew,

'fraid so Sad

The obvious workaround is to keep an old comp around as a dedicated Oasys host.

the first electric guitar demo sucks

but the third one isn't so bad(lectric bass is the most convincing)
