AuthorTopic: Big dumb Vienna question!

Bare with me, I'm still new. Embarassed So I got a laptop with a UW500 and Orion Platinum. All works well MIDI and audio wise, and I've been starting to pop in Kurzweil, and SF2 samples into Orion that are pretty fun. So I hear about and score this Vienna 2.x from Creative and install it to make my own soundfonts.... Bonk! 'ERROR; Can not find suitable driver to run Vienna blah-blah-blah...'. I check the Help areas and can only find AWE driver error reports?

So what more do I need to use this Vienna software? I got ASIO, and Yamaha drivers, and also this Crystal WDM stuff? Go easy on me though as I can't cook either - I keep burning my salads. Embarassed

Vienna uses the soundfont handling within the awe /sb /audigy soundcards and so you will need one of these in order to run vienna.. sorry as I guess thats not the news that you wanted to hear..!

But you confirmed my fears atleast.Wink I thought AWE was a souncard brand. (SB I know for sure.) So no nifty little driver or 'emulator' I could get for my lap dog huh?

Well shoot! Sad

Audio Compositor (http://home.att.net/~audiocompositor/) is a nice program that will allow you to create and edit SF2 files (although its primary purpose is the high quality rendering of midi files). It's $40 and there's a demo. I believe AWave can do this too, but I haven't used it.

Yup, try AWave. It will do exactly what you are looking for. You can also create SF2 files with VSampler... Wink

Patchworkcat...I also would have mentioned Alive, except that to audition your work, you need either a SoundBlaster card or LiveSynth Pro DXi... has this changed?

Nevertheless, a great SF2 editor if your system meets the criteria.
