Just to say that Discovery 1.1 is uploaded (19:38 GMT+1) at www.discodsp.com. If you downloaded 1.1 before, then try again, oscillator's FM iteration has been optimized (2 mul's less per sample) and also is now nearly-exact as nl2 does.

Less CPU usage on my machine when playing randomly generated patches.
Thanks for the update! | |

The link to your site in your sig has 2 www's.
I'm curious, is this supposed to be a Nord Lead 2 clone? If so anybody who has heard or still has in their posession a real Nord Lead 2, how does it compare in quality? And finally, how does it compere to Synth 1?

Wow, just installed this thing, its completely mindblowing!
I still don't know how to load the 2 preset banks (In Fruityloops) that you've included in the demo, but It manages just fine to load REAL NORD LEAD 2 PRESETS!!! I can't judge how it sounds compared to the real thing, but who cares! This is one of the better VSTI's I've heard. My only gripe is the UI, it's not too clear, seems a bit jumbled up, and personally I think Synth-1's Interface is a LOT better, in terms of look and usability. If you guys can manage to improve the interface or even make it similar to Synth-1s, this will be one puppy to hold onto for quite a while. What are the limitations of the demo?

The preset banks are in your VST folder. The demo won't save, and I'm sure there's a couple other limitations that I haven't found yet.

Actually, I love the UI. Way better than Synth 1's UI. But to each his own. No pleasing everyone.

The preset files are in the right folder It just wont load anything, just a basic square-like preset.

Your host should allow you to browse to them.

Yes. Use your host's preset handling to load the prs files.

it doesn't load the preset banks in Muzys too

I had no problem loading the presets in chainer.
By the way, is there anywhere on the net that I can download some Nord presets? Thanks

There's a link to 1200 of them down at the bottom of the Discovery website.

Hey, just an idea. Even if it's emulating a hardware synth, it doesn't have to have the same limitations. After all, the parts/buttons etc don't cost extra.
What I mean is the way you have to press a single button multiple times to select wave forms, filter types etc. In a software interface this could be efficiently done by just clicking on the thing you want to select, not having to clumsily do it through a single button. A cool sounding synth judging from the demo though. Has lots of potential in my opinion. |
