AuthorTopic: 1 VST Instru, Different channels, different sounds?

This might sound like a stupid question to some of you,
but I've only got so many instrument slots on
Cubase VST 5.1, so I'd naturally like to use one slot with,
say, Plex, and then assign different sounds to each
of the 16 channels. I've been unable to do this thus far.
Currently, every time I want to try a new sound, I have
to load another whole Plex. This ain't right....

Can someone help me?

Thanks

you can bounce down to audio if you want.
not sure from here, but thought I would offer this as an option

Very few VSTis are multitimbral.Almost always you'll have to use multiple instances.Mighty_Hero's got the answer,though-bounce them down to tracks.

Get Chainer to get out of the limited number of VSTi's you can use.

What about those synths from JasonSynth! and PPG 2.2 and some others I can't recall at the moment? When I put these in Orion, some can have as many as 8 faders come up for them?

Sorry manOtunes, not familiar with Cubase or Plex, but think I see what you're saying? I'm happy with my Orion, and think Cubase should be just as easy? Maybe read up on those Preferences/Options again?
Or buy Orion Platinum and never worry again? Laughing

True...Chainer can make a multitimbral instrument out of a VSTi that's usually monotimbral over MIDI.If you haven't guessed, there's a lot of us who swear by Chainer here.

Is Chainer some sort of patch bay for VSTi's, or
is it a complete replacement for Cubase?

If I can load Chainer in as a hub into one of my VSTi
slots, and then load multiple synths into that hub,
that's exactly what I'm looking for.

If it's a complete audio/sequencing software,
then I'm afraid that's too drastic a step for me at the mo'.

Yep,that's what Chainer is;a VST host that can function as a VSTi and a VST effect. No sequencing. Read the reviews, and download the demo

It's the best $60 you'll spend!

Is it compatible with a Mac G4, and Cubase?

If not, it's a tragedy.....
