wondering if anyone knows how i can get tons of these sounds, either by a certain synth or maybe a sample collection. i'm looking for little mechanical noises.

i have tried crystal and i think it does some great sounds for this

get DR-008 and use the Drumsynth module. Just hit randomise and you guaranteed to get loads a bleeps and bloops.

What sort of "little mechanical noises" are you looking for specifically?
If you're looking for machine buzz/humm/clicks or computerish bleeps/blips (Arp 2600 style), I can try and output some stuff for you.
Cheers,

Fruity DrumSynth Live! - use the randomise function to gets some crazy blips, beeps, bloops, baps, nyerrrrs, and any other type of computer sound you can think of Smile

Anything like either of these?

Sound1 (.mp3)
Sound2 (.mp3)

Sound1 is a bit harmonic, while Sound2 is more "pure machine".

Just let me know...

if your looking for that typical retro sci-fi, R2D2 random beeps, clicks and pops thing then you might be interested in the latest from TC Native... word on the street is: they introduced the 'filtrator' to the bundle. it has a great pre-set called "data-entry" for this exact use.... i'm sure the price is a bit erm.... pricy but i guess theres probably a demo. which is all you'll need.

Don't forget the quirky but free Drumdragon, and the big bad 4 ton monster known as VirSyn Tera!!!! Both are kick ass for those crazy bloops, bleeps, LFO tweeks, and bass slides, plus in the case of Tera, much much more....

If you're not in the mood to craft your own sfx, try Sonic Foundry's Methods of Mayhem sample CD for some really unique pre-fabs.

With any of these weapons in your arsenal, you should have pleanty of FreQz. to make your tracks feel Nasty (pardon the pun).

what about "one ping only"?

what about taking a simple synth and using effects? There are so many unusual and fun VST effects available that almost any sound can be made into just about anything you are looking for.

Space Synth makes some cool beeps and boops.

Drum loops with effects like bitcrushing, filtering, modulation effects - particularly flange can make great sounds.

I can only second the smartelectronix recommendation. Especially Crazy Ivan will give you SO much of more or less random bleeps and bloops - make sure to reserve some space for them. It almost doesn't matter what you feed it with either, it'll defenitely do the job.

Hi,

I'm currently working on a VSTi that is perfect for bleebs and bizarre machine-like sounds.
I surprised my self with this one while working on the presets as it sounds really great.
It's capable of doing a very wide variety of sounds... Sounds I never heard before from any synth.
I still need to finish the GUI and the presets. I'll post it here when it's ready... Maybe this weekend.

e-phonic Invader is coming... Very Happy
Best regards,
PJ

Sounds nifty Smile

I'll second the vote for iXi (I haven't used it in music because I forgot about it since last time I played with it, but there's some neat stuff there).

Samples of retro video games can do great things when you run them through snippet2 or some of the DestroyFX stuff. By that same token, SID chip type stuff is very bleepy... the Commodore 64 was one of the greatest analog synths ever Very Happy

My two choices would be CosmicGirl et al found at http://www.elogoxa.net/ and ik's own RotoPuker, which is shaping up to be an outstanding synth in it's own right. Check the threads here for address.Smile

thanks everyone this has been really helpful

brittnel how did you make those great sounds?
mojogigolo

if youve got fruity and battery, load up all 54 cells with drums/fx/whatever, and hit randomize on the wrapper - instant mechanical noise (but beware you could have massively increased gain on some cells).

Hey MR. "T", Wink
They're from my Nord Modular.
I've got a ton of patches for that kind of stuff.
Those were just the first couple that came to mind...
If you're still interested, I really wouldn't mind rendering out a few "shortish" samples.
Cheers,
b

well it's kind of funny, cause those are the types of sounds i had in mind, and they had a very nice quality to them too. we'll keep in touch

and thanks again to everyone else who posted on this thread, there are so many different approaches to getting the simple "bloops and bleeps"
