AuthorTopic: Crystal Audio Unit beta

Any Logic OSX users out there?

I'm looking for volunteers to beta test the Audio Unit version of
Crystal. If you're not familiar with Crystal, it is a popular soft
synth which is currently available in VST format. You can find Crystal
information here: http://www.greenoak.com/crystal
Also, there's a yahoo group for Crystal users, so if you have
questions, that's a good place to get them answered:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/crystal-users/

Before you say yes, consider that I'll be asking for several hours of
your time over the next couple of weeks, so you'll have to be prepared
to spend that time using Crystal, including creating patches. There
will probably be several iterations of the beta version, so you'll
have to repeat some of those tests several times. Also, I may need
quick feedback, so you'll have to be able to spend at least a little
time with it each day over the next couple of weeks.

If you're interested, let me know at glenn@greenoak.com Be sure to
include the specs of your Mac (model, cpu, memory, OSX version). Thanks.

Could you not do a DXi version (first/instead/next)?

I've heard nothing but good things from SONAR users who use Crystal via VST-DX Adaptor (thanks Angus). Logic users however, have no such option. Have you had trouble using Crystal via an adaptor?

Only one and I don't know if it's an adapter or Crystal issue (and I'm not sure I can describe it even) - it's stable, but does something weird with the LFO speeding up. I'll try to listen closely and report it here.

I'd just like to see support for a well-established (2-3 years) standard before diving into unknown territory: DX(i) has the same status as AU (ie. it's built into the OS), so it seems more sensible to me to write for a working standard first. Not to mention that most Macs won't have the power to play decent Crystal patches Smile
