So the baby costs €329/$329.
Why? The rates for euro and dollars are not the same! It's pretty idiotic, I who live in Norway who's not a member of EU, can chose to pay in dollars or in euros. I checked their web site and I can pay with US dollars. That means I save $25/€23.5 as opposed to paying in euros. Weird, eh?

because they want to offer constant, understandable pricing to people on either continent, and they probably think that's more important than occasionally gaining or losing 5% on a sale here and there.

My point was from the consumer's point of view. I would actually be upset if I had to pay more for a product since it actually cost more in the currency I must use as the prices are the same in €/$.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but I think it's priced a bit too high in either currency. Not insanely so, but there are synths like Rhino, Anamark, Vaz Plus etc out there for a lot less. Sure, this synth is different in some ways but is it really different enough to warrant this price?
That's not to say it isn't a good synth - it is - or that the likes of NI aren't priced equally high - they are. But the quality of synths you can buy for $100 is rising all the time.

As others have pointed out, Bob Moog lent his name to this. (a) That accounts in part for the high price and (b) Since his name is on it, you can bet the sales will be higher than they would have been, even if this were $50-75 cheaper, without his name on it.

Good point!!! With the greatest respect to Mr Moog, though, I'd prefer that $50 please... Actually, to be honest I wouldn't buy it even at the lower price - even though it's a good synth. I just think there's stuff that's pretty much equally good at half the price (and sometimes even less). Zeeta, for instance, is $149 - is it really half the synth that the Moog is? I know they are very different beasts, but even so I think Arturia are taking the pee a wee bit.

z3ta+ is my favorite synth, but man, I am in love. Someone find me some money. I just downlaoded it and spent the last 30 minutes drooling. Nothing I have heard sounds this good. OK, I love Moog's like very few do, even though I have never played one (enough that I would have bought a minimoog voyager some day), but this just saved me a few grand. I know I will buy it by next year, when I should have enough saved. I'll pay 250 for something that sounds so spot on. I haven't said that for the Pso-53, or the Oddity, but then the Moog has always been the one I have wanted (hardware version).
OK enough drooling | ||

yeah !
if i want to struggle with a real monster synth i go with god and choose blindnessly z3ta+... no wires flying around but my mind flyes around just more. i can't pay 350 euros for just a name. i will only pay 2000/3000 euros for m00g. only for its hardware nasty brother ! lou

Hi All,
I really have no idea why the US customers would complain about a couple of bucks. If you buy it here in the states, you can get the synth for $249. Seems pretty reasonable to me. |
