Top synth - best ever - but.....

A} The prest thing - when u install it - it creates 2000 files / folders etc - not good - this is ugly - intrusive and down right in efficent.

B} The preset sucks - they are Beta testers masturbations - some are good - but it is by no way a professional collection of sounds.

C} It is a touch expensive.

D} I'll get back to you.

Respect,

Reg

Wow. I never realized that. It already takes too long for my computer to do any type of file search or maintenance.

That was my first thought. Presets sell the synth, normally.

I'm hoping for deep discounts when it goes through distribution. It is a high list price for a synth that is not as flexible as Reaktor or Tassman. It may sound good, but so do a lot of cheaper synths that I already own.

How can you honestly compare the high list price of two products that MSRP for $499 with a product that lists for $329? In real terms, we're still looking at $429 or $399 for Reaktor and Tassman respectively, or $249 for ModularV. That's $150-$170 dollar difference, or almost double!

I'm not trying to be rude, but let's compare apples to apples. It's right in line with the other high quality specialty synths out there for price.

A lot of people bought Tassman 2 for $150 and got a free upgrade. I got it will Sonar XL and paid $80 for the full version. Reaktor 3 cost me around $320. MoogV is $250. I forget what I paid for Vaz Modular but it is also in the same range. Maybe $280? I have no problem comparing any of them to each other.

For once I will disagree with Rabid Smile. I have not heard a synth that sounds this good. I admit to being more than a bit partial to the moog sound, and this VST nails it. I can't afford to buy it yet, but I have rarely had more fun with a synth as I did with the demo yesterday. The only synth which has ever come close to getting my juices flowing like this is z3ta+.

One thing Arturia should do is have an alternate skin. Then, people familiar with the Moog Modular can use the current skin and others can use a more software-style skin.

If discounts are typical ModularV will probably have a street price of $240 or so, that's VerSyn TERA range in price, if they sell through typical distributor channels. 30 - 40% is common at places like Guitar Center although there are some products that sell at list.

Presets do sell a synth and if you're making a modular synth at this price point the presets should be very good. Two people have said they are so-so at best.

I wish them well but this does seem a high price, especially for those who first purchase. It should be added though that we Americans need to remember we often get advantagious price breaks on goods.
