Absynth 2 sounds amazing. I love the first Absynth, but, WOW--a huge step forward.

My other soft synths are going to be quite jealous for a while once this comes out. Smile

On a side note, the NI Shop now includes the "Oxygen 8 controller NI edition" (listed as coming soon). Interesting . . .

One more note--upgrade price from Absynth 1.x to 2 is listed as 99 dollars/euros. Not cheap, but worth it IMO.

Happy to hear that but kind of sucks for Oxygen 8 users if it's something hard coded. I'd love to take better advantage of my Oxygen 8 but on some instruments it's a pain considering you can't save settings.

Absynth 2 sounds really good, as noted an improved quality.

yeah, one big improvement under all the sexy envelope stuff, you can now have anti-aliasing oscils, which will make a big improvement in FM stuff.

I'm looking forward to being able to scan a sample, ala the cymbal using granular, I love that stuff.

Wow, looks like version 2 is all it's hyped to be! I kinda liked Absynth 1, but didn't find it nearly this cool. (and thus didn't buy it!)

Looks like it'll be impossible to get through 2003 without buying any new toys...

Tinman,

Just wanted to tell you I love your artwork. It's a very interesting style. Ed Moses is one of my favorite painters and a big influence on my artwork as well. Keep it up. Very Happy

Info below. Sounds like a blue Oxygen 8. Can the existing Oxygen 8 store 5 presets?

Native Instruments wrote:
Oxygen 8 NI Edition
This is a special NI Edition of the M-Audio Oxygen 8 USB MIDI keyboard. Designed to meet the needs of today's electronic musicians, Oxygen 8 puts you in control of any 8 MIDI-assignable parameters within your favorite software programs. Oxygen 8 is also a USB MIDI interface that speaks directly with your computer without any extra devices. You don't need a MIDI interface for this keyboard interface.

The software synth is here to stay, and along with it comes dozens of parameters begging to be tweeked. Until now you've been trapped with only a single mouse to do everything. Oxygen 8 puts your hands on any 8 parameters of your choice in real time.

The Oxygen 8 NI Edition comes in classic NI blue and provides special NI controller presets* for use with FM7 and ABSYNTH. Additional controller settings for other NI synths software can easlily be programmed.

Features:
- 8 MIDI assignable knobs, one assignable slider.

- Inputs and outputs 16 channels of MIDI to and from your computer using
the power and convenience of your USB port

- Fully functional, velocity sensitive 25 key MIDI controller keyboard. Capable of sending all MIDI messages, such as modulation, pitch-bend, MIDI volume, and more

- Power the Oxygen 8 with the USB port or 6 "AA" batteries for complete
portability, or with power supply (not included)

- 5 storable presets for controller settings

- Special controller presets for FM7* and ABSYNTH*

- Compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and higher, OS X, Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP

*NI controller presets available via download

Available via download? Then it'd have be a firmware update via the driver installation, wouldn't you think? If that's the case, then existing Oxy8 owners would be able to use the presets as well. I guess, anyway.
