pant-pant-pant, Dianne - been looking all over for your old post, and couldn't find it? So forgive my Brando-esque performance. Laughing

But it looks like Songbird is still in business, and you can easily download his programs at http://www.gryc.ws/freesoftware.htm

I hope it can help you out some.Smile

I later found Ben had moved your orginal post to 'Everything Else' and think I posted this again there? But I find it a very useful and complex tool for keyboards and guitars et al. I'm not much into the 'chord progression' stuff myself. I just play a clump of notes until they sound good, and use this handy software to find out what the heck I'm actually playing and/or how to play it on guitar (or vice versa)

Enjoy! Wink

John, what OS are you using, and what soundcard? With my Echo Mia and XP, I couldn't get Songbird to run more than about 30 seconds without crashing. I tried setting Songbird to be Win98 compliant, and my whole system went hooey and I had to restore a ghost. No big deal...but I was wondering what kind of setup you have that you've got it running well.

P3 950mhz w/Win2k Pro and a UW500 USB Audio? Too bad to hear it is causing you so much grief? I know it's 'default' is MS GM Inst. table to sound the instruments and all.
But maybe if you check and reset the Preferences/Options of Songbird, it may be a little more stable?

Worked like a charm for me since day one? Best of luck!Smile

John, I just downloaded an XP update that says it fixes compliance hooeyness introduced with the the last XP update. Maybe that's what caused it all to fall apart so badly. I'll try it again later, when I have another free time segment to play with Songbird.
