AuthorTopic: Anybody using MHC Fatsondo?

I've d/l the demo, and aside from a cheezy photoshop-made gui, it sounds pretty fat. The problem is that I'm running it on PIII 1GHz with 256M Ram on FL3.56/FLStudio, and it burns all of my cpu. I can barely run a couple of instances with it before it goes to 70%-80%. Surprisenly, they don't have FL listed as one of their tested host. Anybody else having a similar problem?

I picked up the complete package (Studio Setup 1) and Fatsondo is a nice sounding synth. Some day I plan to send the developer an email about some of the problems but I have not had a chance. It does have a very nice sound but it seems to have more denormal problems than the other two synths from the same company. It is still version 1.0 while Space Synth is at vs 1.4 so I hope an update is coming soon that will improve efficiency. It is a very nice package for "space" music.

Hi Vectron,

I've used Fatsondo quite a bit in Fruity (both 3.56 and FL Studio) and not seen anything like that CPU usage on an Athlon XP 1900.

One thing to watch is the number of oscillators used and the effects. Running through most of the presets I don't go much above 6-8% for each instance used.

Are you running all the effects and many oscillators? If so, try trimming back on them. You'll probably see CPU usage come down quite dramatically.

Otherwise, this might be a denormal problem, in which case contact Mikael and I'm sure he'll be able to assist.

I agree. This thing is very nice sounding - one of my favourites Smile

When I had a P4 I experienced many denormals with fatsondo...I emailed MHC and he said he was aware of it, this was back in dec 2002 and a fix would be redy early 2003...there's been no activity on his website for a long time now though:(

I've got everything they make! I love em, but they have they're own sound! Space synth is way cool, nothing quite like it... Fatsondo does great pads and big oscillator roars! I haven't noticed them to be heavy on CPU but I have used em for BG fills and FX, er, well Fatsondo for everything! Great deal if you ask me!
