I am a SX convert from Logic. One of the many things I miss is the ability to view the incoming midi data. SX's little red light on the transport is not getting it for me.
So, I did a search for "midi monitor", and found Walter Cescato's Midi Monitor for PC. It's great!!! You just use it as a VST instrument, and assign a track to it, set the track to live monitor all the time, and open the little window down in the corner, and there you go. Complete viewing of all your incoming midi data. No problems caused so far here. Now it's so much easier to match my CC levels to my previous segment recording, without guessing. I can see my previous cc level using SX's key editor, and then easily match that last setting by looking at the Walter's Midi Monitor. You gotta have it, it's a no brainer. http://www.freewebz.com/wallyaudio/VST-MIDI%20Monitor.htm kind regards to all, david

Hello
You could also try Tobybear's Kondor VST. Its gives you great midi monitoring and much more, like details of the host candos and VstTimeInfo that it generates

I just checked this out. And, Firstly, I wasn't able to get it to read incoming midi, probably operator error here, but secondly, it's monitor window is way too large, and takes a quarter of a screen space, not good at all. I wouldn't want to use this for that reason along. It's obvious intended purpose is for developer use, not good here for what I need. But thanks for the mention. kind regards, david

I just tried Kondor, also. Doesn't read incoming midi for me, either. And it crashes Chainer.

Hello
It reads MIDI input correclty in Cubase SX, Fruity and Bidule, didnt try others. Sure, dfloyd, its intended mostly for developpers, but can be very usefull for beta testers as well. Users that learn a bit more on plugin/host communication usually become any host/plugin developper's best friend Cheers
