Hi Gang,
Note: I am posting this out of plain old human curiosity, and not because I plan on buying it. I stumbled upon an old review of the Model E in an issue of Keyboard Magazine (USA) dated from 2000! It actually gave a pretty glowing review of the "E"... but according to some user posts, I get a distinctly different opinion! Is it that it has not aged well (it is, after all, one of the first VSTis)? Or are users being overly harsh? Or is it really that bad? Always interested in your opinions! ThanX & Luv - BBJ

Hi !
No, it's not that bad but pretty overpriced ... And it doesn't sound like a Mini-Moog at all ... Wouldn't buy it anymore EagleEye

It is not really bad, but there are about 50 different subtractive VA VSTi's available that sound better for $30 or less.

3 years ago when I got it, it was great. There weren't that many subtractive VST synths then.
And I still use it today. No it doesn't sound like a Mini Moog, Creamware's Minimax does. Would I buy it again? Probably not at the current price, but if they lowered the price I would consider it. 7XL.

Its an ok synth- I can get some usable sounds out of it, but I feel that teh sound pallette is pretty limited. Although it could be considered Moog-ish, the filter definitely is not as fat or warm as the moog, and the oscillators are too digital and have some aliasing. That said, it is good for leads, especially when run through efx, and I think that the latest patch has a slightly better sound and is definitely more reliable |
