So what's the deal with this thing?

What will it do for me that the standard Fruity Sampler can do, other than show a picture of the waveform...

Is it worth the dough? I mean people are saying that Kontakt is THE sampler, but I've heard HALion is good too.

I think the Halion is not too bad of a sampler. I've never used Kontakt, so I can't compare there, or fruityloops, but it's a sampler I guess, and works like a sampler should. I don't really like it's filters though.

I have HALio and at the moment is stinks Sad

The filters are just cheap, IMO

BUT, HALion 2.0 is about to come out and it has fitlers from Waldorf so it should be great.

Kontact sounds really good and I think is great at editing your sounds, but I just think is too difficult to load your sounds. The process it SLOW, perhaps there is a quicker way of getting around.....

i dont know the frooty sampler but the main difference for me is that the bigger ones can play samples of any size - they are streamed from the hard disk

This means that very high quality patches can be used

Apart from that they can import many sample formats ie soudfont, akai , giga etc

thats it is guess
