AuthorTopic: Edirol Orchestral. Not saving changes in Cubase 5.1!

Does anyone have this VSTI? I just got it and it's doesn't save the programs changes in a song when using Cubase 5.1. It just goes back to the default patches when I open the song again (which is damned annoying!)

Thanks.

This is the propriatery Roland behavior. Like all other roland gear it has its quirks.

What you need to do is find an option there somewhere where you could load and save performance. By saving a performance you will save all the program changes etc. But this is not automatically loaded when you open VST/SX. So you need to load these files after you open your project in VST or SX.

Or just read the manual will you.

This happens because orchestral resets itself when it receives a reset midi message.

The way i do it in sonar is to setup the midi channel bank/patch from the track view, not from inside the orchestral interface. Don't know how to do it in Cubase, though.

Also you could search somewhere in the cubase midi settings and disable some option (if there is one) to send midi reset message when loading the song.

Unfortunately, you have to save your Edirol settings separately, and reload them after you have reloaded your song..as AndrewW says, that's Edirol's fault, not Steinberg's.
Saving and loading is hidden inside the "System" widget on the right of the HQ Orchestral interface,in another widget, called "File". You can save performances, and also save modified parameters of the individual sounds. I am *always* forgetting to save separately...we are so used to everything being saved with the song.

yeah this problem is annoying, make sure you contact Edirol about it, both times I mentioned it to them they said no one else had reported it.

But does anybody know if it is possible to save the performance parameters as midi data in a midi track????

JmR,
you can do this in a midi track by inserting patch changes and RPN and NRPN messages. Don't know how to do it in Cubase, though Smile

I think the DXI may not have the same limitation that the VST ver has. I noticed the same thing, but I only tested the DXI ver in project 5 and the vst ver in cubase.

the problem is only in the VST version, the DXi version (SONAR, P5)saves the info correctly.

Yeah the same problem over here in good ol' Cubase 4.1...
Good reminder to ALWAYS save your settings though Smile
Still love the instrument, had a wicked time with it so far.
