When I saw it at NAMM in January, they were talking about the end of the year. From what I saw, they didn't appear to be offering anything different from the reset of the soft sampler crowd.

Thatīs true but if I can find a sampler that reads all my AKAI- CDROMs with perfect translation it is good for me.

Akai hasnt been too impressive lately IMO. Have you played around with Kontakt, Halion, VSampler, etc.? They're dope now, not 10 years ago Wink.

The cool thing about the VZ8 is the perfect interaction w/ the Z8, now you can work on your stuff w/ VSTi's & still be able to take it live w/o the normal hassles, glitches, & compromises. Aside from that, though, Kontakt's a bigger one for me.

You might be thinking of Mackie.

I think it was AKAI's UK distributer that went bankrupt. The VZ8 was scheduled to be launched in August when it was originally announced, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's slipped back a few months.

All I know is I love my Akai hardware samplers even with their limitations. So, this could be good if it sounds like their hardware samplerss. I would be very interested in doing an A/B comparison between this and their hardware equivalent.

Same thing with the Emu thing... uh, if it ever actually comes out!

yeah but you'd have to plug the output of the sampler in the input of your card to have a fair representation of an A/B between soft and hardware

Your sampler could have better AD/DA on it that your soundcard
