What's your pick? I have been playing around with the PlasticZ demo and I think it still holds the prize for coolest looking interface.

Well, the Arturia Moog Modular V still looks cool as poo to me, but putting hardware imitations aside... Delay Lama is pretty darn cool. Sun-Ra looks pretty cool too.
I'm also one of those people who likes the look of D'cota and Virsyn Tera

I'll vote for z3ta+ too, although I don't use it. VirSyn TERA is also very nice. For freebie GUI's you can't go past my little killerz!

You know Bones, in a way I hate to say this, and honesty may be good, but it can also be painful, and I don't really want to hurt your feelings, and I really don't want to start anythng, but I'm gong to say it anyway. I checked your web site and looked at your free synths. Well, I'll just say it. Don't take it wrong. And don't be too hard on yourself. I can tell you really tried. But the fact is. Well. You may actually have the best looking free synths. Ok. There. I said it.

The best looking VSTi for me is Oberon:

Toss up between Z3ta and Ambience for me

z3ta+.

z3ta+ with the Micro GUI is excellent!

Probably the design which made me go Ooooh Errrrr! the most - if that's what we're talking about here is probably a Creamware sampler/synth called Sonoquid.

I will post a picture of it in its full glory tonight.

I am NOT saying that it's the most intuitive interface or anything - just that it dazzled me initially more than any other device.

No arguing about taste though...

Though I'd be hard pressed to name my favourite..... I loved Muzys' SMX skin last year, though that's not a synth skin really.

I guess it would be PlastcZ then, Battery maybe.

I really like the ES2 interface..gives me the feeling that it´s not built to
act like a classic analog surface but gives a picture how a modern synth can
be handeled.., also like Absynth

Hardwarewise, my fav.interface is the ermm..Minimoog Voyager!

I have to agree with Clinical dub Oberon is one of th few I can stare it for hours

ES2 - especially with all its cool windows that open and close - all emagics synths and effects are works of art

Z3ta also looks nice (whats this micro skin though?) and so does D'Cota (which actually looks like a musical instrument should to me - all curvy and sexy - not boxy and angular)

and I also like the interfaces of Absynth and Plex

and LAD's synths for minimalist simplicity

Z3ta doesn't do it for me... Not shiny enough and it has a kind of washed out look. Needs more contrast.

i love all the Land of Cockaigne guis. they are so warm and inviting.

other than that, my favourite would have to be the NI B4 interface. because i adore the instrument so, and the gui is tastily appropriate. i like the glowly lights on the control panel particularly, i can almost feel the heat coming off their little incandescent filaments.

For all Satyr is an ace synth, the GUI is a little too dark somehow... Yeah Oberon is better

Too flat and not shiny enough. I think the square sliders are particularly ho-humm. Especially, when you contrast Rhino with Tick's Angelina. It's far more green, I admit... But it's a lot more ALIVE!

That IS funny! I was just on my way to find a picture of Angelina, when I came across Rhino - I thought, "ooh, pretty!!" and forgot what I had been looking for...
Now I see why I thought of Angelina before!! It is beautiful!
