Hello, first post here. Been reading for a while and learned a lot. Thanks.
I did search the archives for my inquiry and perhaps came away a bit more confused. I recently purchased Halion, deciding to buy it instead of SampleTank. I was looking for a VSTi to play high quality samples, and it appears that Halion is more than capable of doing that. But I actually read the manual and I don't ever see myself using any of the editing tools. Filters, envelopes, high pass, low pass, yada yada, yada. It's like my old Roland XP60; hundreds of ways to manipulate the sounds but I always used the ones straight out of the box. Does anyone actually edit samples with Halion or are you just downloading samples from Wizoo and using them? If you are editing samples would you mind giving some examples? What the heck am I supposed to do with a Waldorf filter? Did I screw up here, because it seems that SampleTank has way more content than Halion? Or will I be happier with Halion (for some as of yet unseen reason) after I've spent another couple of hundred on more samples? And maybe I just answered my own question; is the great thing about Halion the sheer number of samples available? Should I cut my losses and sell Halion (I didn't register it) and maybe go with SampleTank. Thanks for your patience, T

Haliun can impoert almoast everything. That's it's big adventage. Buy a sample CD and you can be almoast shure Halion can import it.

Yay, even if don't like manipulating your patches, the sole fact that Halion can convert gigas, soundfonts and akais is a major advantage.
Just go to the Sound Site to know what I mean

I have Kontakt instead of Halion, but I will suggest that you don't just dismiss the ability to change filters or some other settings. I don't build any patches from scratch in Kontakt, but even some simple tweeks can breath new life into a sound. It works great for making pads.
