AuthorTopic: Do you love Atmosphere?

I do..when I first got it at Christmas,I spent the first 2-3 hours just running through the presets and I thought my God, how can I use these sounds? they're so huge, so powerful, they will overpower everything else in a song, not so, it's nice to choose a sound and use it to add a texture rather than make it the main focus, it could however easily be used as the main foundation as well. Sometimes it's nice to just put headphones on, sustain one of those moving pads and float away. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it, I hear something different each time I load it up. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Atmosphere has to be my most favourite sound libaray yet. All the patches I find to be very tweakable and it really fits well into the mix.

Some of the bell tones I think are absolutley unbelievable Very Happy

are you kidding?...............atmosphere is outstanding...........just take a random patch, and if it has one, take the second layer off, and mix in another totally random patch..........this plug's capaticy will never be reached........it took me about a month just to play all the preset patches..........but then adjusting the attack times and the filters, you get a brand new sound...........maybe in 3 years I will have exhausted this plug-in Laughing

atmosphere is like this: Surprised ... and often also like: Shocked

I didnt think that a beast like this can convince me really, but it simply did.
Iīm not into pad-sounds and synths, but atmosphere is just rich, warm, fat, bright, huge, subtle, heavy, spooky, scary .... everything!

And it can sound warm .... jajaja!

What makes Atmo tick for me is the quality of the presets.

I haven't found a duff one yet.

The ears that have gone in making sure that every sound has a usable quality is astonishing, which is what makes Atmo worth it.

You can't beat good ears Cool

i dont get how you can use these kind of atmospheric textures
without tempo sync or some tempo reference...

basicly i guess you have to create a song around one of the patches..

this i feel is a bit pompus.the interface doesnt do anything amazing
i mean wow a filter 2 lfo and an envelope...thats nothin to write home about.

if you have a good virtual sampler...and buy a few good sample cd
you would have a comparable product.

i said it before and i feel its a gimmick.write a interface for a sample cd ..and ya can charge more money.

i do feel the yellow tools products are better though.
they at least have some creative features.

if your gonna write an interface for a sample cd at least do it with a bit
of innovation.

im not knocking the sounds....from what ive heard they are good
but its just not all its cracked up to be.

You are free to have your own opinion of course, but your facts are not exactly correct.....as usual, the devil is in the details.

Atmosphere actually has two layers with independent architecture, so you have 6 Envelopes and 6 LFOs per voice with a mod matrix...much more powerful than the average sampler. It has the best Solo mode triggering of any sampler engine. The filters are very good sounding and many of the sounds are created based on the particular sound of Atmosphere's filters and would not be recreatable on any other sample engine (especially odd since you used the YT engine as a comparison, since it has NO filters!)

(and yes LFO sync, more waveforms and many, many other cool things are in the works....this is after all just 1.00)

True it is a simpler archeticture than a synth like ABsynth or others, but that was also an intentional choice, since it is much easier to use and still very powerful. Calling it a sample CD with an interface is totally missing the point. It's all about the sound of the instrument and being able to get great combinations quickly that can be edited in intuitive ways quicky to keep the musical flow going, and that comes about as a marriage of the massive core library, the customized engine and the streamlined interface.

And check your price comparison too, Atmosphere is about HALF of the price of our sample libraries. So we are charging far LESS for our instruments than we do our sample libraries. (Our Sample libraries average typically $199 for 600mb. Atmosphere is $399 for nearly a nearly 4gb)

No synth is for everyone, and thank goodness there are so many options to choose from, but it is a bit unfair to call our approach a "gimmick". Especially with so many enthusiastic users.

all the best,

WHATEVER.......
this is all just PR

it is still a gimmick to charge more money for a bunch of samples
blah blah blah...

the filters are nothing special ...and niether is the interface

and the mod matrix is weak...compared to hmm ...lets see
kontakt.
one bad thing is said out of all the posts........and u swoop in to defend
atmospheres honor....makes me sick..

yellow tools have far better features then your throw togather money makers.

alls you want to hear is how great your app is........
so....
i take it all back...
atmosphere is absolutly the best vsti i have ever heard.......
i get tingles on the back of my neck when i hit a note......lol!

all the best to everyone. Wink

If you search the forum, I think you'll find that I'm always interested in hearing constructive feedback and have always been interested in the opinions and ideas of our users. I welcome the dialog, even if I don't always agree with every opinion expressed. That is certainly the reason I am here participating in the dialog.

Obviously, Atmosphere is my own design that I put a lot of time and energy into creating...so of course I'm going to point out when it is being inaccurately critisized in factual areas. It's important to me that my design concept is understood in these public discussions too. My comments in response to your post were simply to set the record straight and not to get into an argument over subjective issues.

Again, you have a right to your opinion, which I respect.

Peace,

nutekk ..... thereīs one more thing beside technical aspects: taste

And thatīs actually the reason why Atmosphere convinced me.
I donīt care for the technique in it, on it or behind it, and i donīt care about the filters etc.

But i do care for the sound, and the people who did this beast simply have a feeling for sound. (to my ears at least)
And thatīs why i really like it.

sound.

Even if Atmosphere was just a straight forward sample library (which it is not) it would still be an absolute steal at the price they are asking for 3.7Gb of sample material.

The way I see it, you get a damn good sample library at a very low price plus a specially designed interface to help you get the most out of the sounds. It really makes it much more of an instrument as opposed to just a selection of samples Smile

and itīs also the way Atmosphere comes - when i first heard it at a friends studio he said "are you sitting?". I said "Wah, wanna show me another rompler? Pads? synths? Pfffff....."

Then he played it .... Surprised .... to say it in silly words: it sounded like hollywood!
HiHi

yes ... itīs just impressing how it comes out of the speakers - so damn rich and full.

Sure - you could also buy lots of sample-cdīs and create your own pads by combining various pads. But then again iīm grateful that a man like eric (having taste AND many years of experience in sound) comes along putting huge amounts of time into this baby to then just bring it to us, the folks out here. Smile

Itīs about quality me thinks.
