AuthorTopic: Any VSTi Clavis?

Can anyone recommend a top quality VSTi Clavi?

I love the sounds of the EVD6 but I'm on Cubase SX. Is there something that can do a similar job besides Big Tick.

TIA

I think you are out of luck there..evd6 is unmatchable in any respect..ticky clave which you already know about is free, but as you also obviously already know it's not even 1/10th as good as evd..

i'm afraid your only other option is sample based, as there are no other pm clav's in the vsti world i know of(someone jump in and correct me if i am wrong)...i have heard some soundfonts that aren't too bad, and there are sample's clavs you can use in your favourite sampler if you hunt around, but again, they are no evd6

sorry i couldn't be of more help

Ticky isn't nearly as good right out of the box....but with the right FX
it can be made to sound a LOT more convincing. Things like Amplitube
Vintage Warmer, T-Racks etc.

Cheers.....CL Embarassed

I think it would be a good move for emagic to release a cut down VST version of the EVD6, like they have with EVP88...

EVD6 sounds magical, and it is great for harp sounds and all kinds of exotic percussion. Best of all it does actually sound like a 'real' instrument rather than a virtual one Very Happy

There are also sample libraries like the Hohner D6 library from www.biggagiggas.com ($59, Giga and HALion format). There’s an mp3 demo at the website.

Emagic should not have a cutdown version of EVD6, because what they did to the cutdown version of EVP88, the EVP73, was criminal.

Well, I'm a bit partial to Ticky Clav...it's one of the best free VSTi's I've got on my computer, and I use it on nearly every track I make.

There's also some clav patches out there for Absynth that sound rather nice. Not sure if they're *realistic* (I've never played a real clav), but definitely acceptable.

...Or, how bout a version that's NOT cut down! Well, it will never happen anyway because Emagic is trying to create reasons that you must buy Logic and a Mac to have these nice things.

I own a Hohner Clavinet and the only thing that comes close to it is the evd6, imo..
ticky clav is nice but limited in the dynamic and how the instrument reacts to hard and soft played notes...but hey, itīs a wonderful freeware! Embarassed

Thanks for all the help especially from Yosarrian and Big Tick. After replacing my dying Odyssey with the Oddity I need to do the same with my D6 but it seems i'll have to get Logic just for this one instrument. Crying or Very sad
