Bollocks. That is a bummer.

I hate those tossers.
Jeez
Posted: 19th June 2003 18:51
Damn that sucks.

Still though - synths like that can be a good CV for if/when you want to be hired by a bigger softsynth/hardsynth company (like if you want to make some real money). Keep at it.

Forever,

Kim.

1st let me get out of the way that I in NO way agree with warez etc.

That done, it would probably be a waste spending too much time working on copy protection. They cracked Logic & Cubase which were "suppositely" uncrackable. They (crackers & crack users) are a blight on the whole audio scene. They will probably never stop and quite honestly they seem to like a challenge.

I think if you can, just keep making your synth as great as you can and you willl see continued interest. Never know, maybe some of those people who use the crack might see that this is a great synth and want to buy it Smile hopefully. It has been said repeatedly that crackers have been used to ummm advertize a product. Many companies have given copys of their soft to these groups for that exact purpose.

Either way, best of luck to you ocadopaje & NBM Very Happy

Sorry to hear that Ocadopaje. The warez scene is killing the whole industry.

I posted a review of a cheap synth on KVR under my real name and was contacted by lot of people with warez suggesting we trade. Software companies should put a bounty on the pirates and/or warez users and make an example of one. There is one particular person on KVR who always talks about getting his stuff from easynews - why he's tolerated is a mystery to me.

Yeah I know. He gets pissed and goes OTT. Then I follow up and delete wherever I see it.

I think smaller quick-to-download synths are more prone to warezing because they're small and quick to grab.

Big applications that run to a few cds or more, though available, take more time and bandwidth and probably get less downloaded.

Megasize may be the best form of protection for the author.

What I also think is that downloading warez becomes a habit, and maybe an addicition. The downside for the individual is that they write or play less music 'cos they're too busy warezing.

Collecting warez becomes like collecting Pokemon cards or Warhammer. It's an end in itself and the people who do it aren't real musicians and maybe never were.

They're just collectors who dabble in music.

I realise this statement can't embrace all warezers, but it's my broad take on it.

I think they're not real musicians in the first place, and if they are, well ... somehow I don't believe they'll prosper.

Cheats never prosper Exclamation

The person Secret Squirrel mentions above is a case-in-point.

He's a fine musician, but I don't believe he'll get anywhere with his music while he cheats.

I can follow why someone maybe doesnt want to pay £1000 for Nuendo to a company making millions BUT

i think its a little tragic that little low price plugs get ripped off - its such small sum of money that why not pay for it -

The thing that made me write is this notion that he'll never make it - Am I the only one here who makes music (sort of ) as a piss about - something to do

I have no interest in being a pop star or a record producer - I like my job and my life just the way it is Very Happy

well congratulations(already congratulated you elsewhere dave but congrats again) on the baby at least

you guys put in so much effort then charge us guys sweet fa for great synths
you just gotta realise the real musicians are the ones whose support you want anyway not just these guys who have to have all these progs on there pcs to make em feel good

i personally, would love a copy of the moog modular vst from arturia
i also know its available cracked, but i do not want it cracked.i like to feel i have earned these things that i play with
even the free ones i like to at least send a thankyou and link to any music for the freebies

so dont lose heart, there are lots of good people out there too Smile

I know...... and becouse of those good people I´m working on the 1.2 version with new features! after all..... the show must go on Smile

CHANGING SUBJECT:
I think I have to show for you guys the situation in my country where pirated CDS are for selling in the streets or in big markets and even inside shoping centers.....
Maybe on day I will go to the downtown and take some pictures of the "camelô". The camelô is a super concetration of shops that sell everething pirated.... from nike tennis to computer software.......... any program/game cost 5 dollars..... and you find ANY program there........

and this market is supported by the local government wich "rents" slots inside .... Sad Sad

The only way to be arested here is producing pirated CDS ( having a factory , or making in home ) ...... but selling apears to be perfectly legal.............

I will say two things here:

A) Do unto others as you would have them do to you...And you know damn well what I'm talking about here.

B) If you made a decent synth it might sell.

sorry, ,if you are talking about grenade here i must respectfully disagree..at the price it's a steal and with some tweaking can come up with alot of really "funky" sounds...

as far as willk is concerned, i also have no idea how this post got into that but it seems from another post i saw, that you don't seem to like him much at all Reg...i guess the reasons are between you two..but i can honestly say Will K has given me top notch service, always, without one exception..

as to the quality of his vsti's, i am not a huge fan of da alfa at all, i originally sort of liked it but i haven't used it on a track, ever, but combo sister is way cool..

mind you re the guitar i'm not convinced either..actually i'm not conviced by any of the pm guitars at all, yet

ok now how the hell did i get into that last topic Laughing
