I tried to contact the creator via the email on the site twice, but I never had a reply. Its a shame because from the two sample songs on the page it sounds very very nice, and It can import virus b sysex dumps!!.

It mentions version 2.0 will be available q2 2003, but still no news on it or any other projects they are working on. I have no idea why the creator would want to limit its exposure especially since it says 'they are not in it for commercial gain'.

Either way, maybe if we drum up enough demand on here they will release it or something Smile

This has been brought up before...I really dont think they have any interest in releasing klangformer to the gp for sale...

ok, being a buyer of rebel synth(that thing can still produce some fucked up sounds Very Happy ) i remmber they said that when klangformer was released, special upgrade pricing would be available to those that actually paid for rebel...

i waited and waited and noticed nothing ever happened..so i wrote them an email....basically inquiring about the seemingly necessary internet connection for klangformer and the "paper" rebel upgrade price..

they responded very quickly, but the jist of the matter is that they have ansolutely no intentions of taking klangformer away from the "buddyware" type thing...they were more than happy to sell me one as I expressed keen interest and was a previous customer, but there was no special pricing..the main thing was, that they would not budge on the internet issue, whicyh was a deal breaker for me, becasue there was no way i would ever have an interent connection on my daw partition...even having the partitiion on the same pc was no good, klangformer needs a live connection...

I don't know why they have done this, i doubt it would be to spy for any reason as the userbase seems so small anyway..

BUT with the other issues....i think they wanted to eliminate piracy altogether..they would probably be very offended (as i would be) if years of hard work became freely availabe to warez wankers...
and secondly, they might really just want it to be an exclusive product..
I mean, to be honest, it is very cool to have a synth that not many people do, especially if you make commercial music, you would have sounds that most likely no one else would have..and that's incentive to me...

i would get it if they changed their internet policy

Hi there,

i just checked out the Klangformer demos on their site and i am not very impressed. All the Demos sound very digital and harsh and pretty much the same, altough the quality is not impressive and some sounds have some nice aliasing on them. So why is the big hype about that synth? I wouldnt feel like paying 233 Euro (if the price is true and its selling anyway). Just to be serious, what did you guys like so much about this synth? Is it just the point that you cant have it and it is handled like something very special and because of that there is a myth around it?

... just my 2 cents.

Best Regards.

well what can i say, you're 100% right....i had never listened to the mp3's before, i just presumed it would be a killer synth Embarassed

Man, i just listened to the bladerunner and some other mp3, then went through a few of the pad sounds, and they are really bad!! i mean, how digital is that! so "harsh" and "sterile"..it's a weak synth imo
mmm, jassonsynth won't have too many buddies after they pay 233 euro for this Laughing

That is just plain fucking weird.
I wouldn't touch that thing with a bargepole.
