The 69.00 update from ABsynth 1 to A2 seems to be available now!
| Ned Bouhalassa | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:37 | |||
Munkee, you beat me to it! Yep, it's true. So much for my afternoon...
| ||||
| jdg | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:42 | |||

| pough | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:46 | |||
It's available, but it refuses to accept my username! EDIT: They keep the registration and forum accounts separate. Even though I was only getting the password wrong, it was telling me my username was wrong.

Oh yeah, get ready for a bit of a ride. I went through some trouble with registering Reaktor 4, and now, I have Absynth 2 installed but I can't play with it yet, as I don't have a serial number for this version...
| normal | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:51 | |||
i'm pretty sure i read ( @NI site ) , that the download
would work for thirty days w/out the serial number ... part of the new NI protection scheme ... or did i dream that ? ...
| munkee | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:55 | |||
How many MB is the update???
| Nuisances Sonores | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:58 | |||
21 ! But they say 22 ... | ||||
| Ned Bouhalassa | Posted: 17th July 2003 10:59 | |||
I just tried opening Ab 2 and it won't load. I get a window saying my serial number is not good (I haven't entered one yet, 'cause I don't have one!).

copyed from NI site ...
" The new authorization system is a part of the expansion of NI’s online services, and provides for an even more convenient link between the software and additional free online offers and benefits, including updates, tutorials, online support and additional content. All products can be used for 30 days without being authorized. After installation a System ID is created using certain components of the computer: the CPU family, startup disk, operating system and the date of installation. With the help of a convenient Registration Tool included with all NI products, the customer registers the System ID with Native Instruments. Next the customer receives an Authorization Key (several-digit number) per email, which is then copied into the Registration Tool to complete the permanent authorization. The authorization process is not at all complicated. After installing your product you will be walked through all the steps required for authorization (see image below). If you have further questions, you’ll find an FAQ on this page. " or so they say ...

Yes, yes, it's true!!
Grown men acting like 5-year olds on x-mas morning should not be downloading and installing complex software! (I mean myself!) The serial code (temporary) is at the bottom of the confirmation email I/you got when you paid for the download upgrade... See you all later!!

Did you end up buying the V-Station?
| Ned Bouhalassa | Posted: 17th July 2003 11:59 | |||
Nope. Don't need it now!! PS: actually, I've decided to consider buying a Variax. But let's keep this thread to Absynth! W

Just how good is the psycho film preset
| putte | Posted: 17th July 2003 12:20 | |||

Just downloaded and had a quick play around for the past hour Hardly scratched the surface yet but things seem very stable both in standalone and as a plugin in Logic. It takes up a bit more memory than the old Absynth, but nothing more than can be expected with the new granular stuff i guess. The new factory bank sounds nice and interesting but there's so much to explore.....i can't hang around Bye!
| ew | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:00 | |||
It does sound sweet...I am getting graphics noise with multiple windows open,though ew
| spmadmin | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:01 | |||
Damn, I feel like an idiot again...and as usual on NI's expense. I ordered the boxed update for $99, but now I have to wait for it in the mail, while all you cheapskates
| Ned Bouhalassa | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:05 | |||
Hey Putte, nice pic! Is that to celebrate your new Absynth? Did you get the look from loading your own hair samples into it?
| ||||
| ew | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:06 | |||
Jake Mandell had posted earlier that that wasn't an option.Sorry,spmadmin ew
| spmadmin | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:10 | |||
Really, where? Well, if you say so, I'm sure you're right, but it still seems unessecary...and unfair. Why not let all who buy the upgrade download it?
| putte | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:21 | |||
ned .. AHH! I dont find my Absynth1-CD at the moment .... so i cant try it right now ... must search further ... grgrrrr
| ew | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:35 | |||
Oops ew | ||||
| Patrick de Caumette | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:39 | |||
Ned, you gear slut! I tried a Variax and thought it sounded crappy. Now, I understand there are several different models so maybe I tried the wrong one?
| spmadmin | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:41 | |||
Hehe, wouldn't be the first ime then. Did you see his latest replies too? I don't know if he is trying to be funny (which I really don't think he is) or what the hell is going on. Not easy to be a customer with NI.
| Ned Bouhalassa | Posted: 17th July 2003 13:52 | |||
Yikes! Thanks for reminding me to try before I buy...
| Mr. Slater's Parrot | Posted: 17th July 2003 14:16 | |||
I guess I should try it, also -- because I want one, too! James
| Raven | Posted: 17th July 2003 14:55 | |||
Can someone please try the link here http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?id=2836&type=1&dd_uid=242 select 'credit card' and tell me if clicking on 'proceed' does anything nothing happens when I click it Thanks
| Patrick de Caumette | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:00 | |||
It's not working for me either. I guess too many hits going on right now...
| Mighty_Hero | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:02 | |||
I got a map???? | ||||
| pough | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:05 | |||
Maybe it's your security setting? I went throught the process a few hours ago. Other than me forgetting which password to use, it all went smoothly.
I couldn't use that link, Raven, because those pages need cookies to keep things moving the way they should, in terms of passing along identity info.
| Raven | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:06 | |||
Thanks leaping frog thats reassuring I have no problems
this end
They had a new server installed for the Reaktor 4 release
| Patrick de Caumette | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:33 | |||
Just got it!
Youpi! | ||||
| Gargoyle | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:39 | |||
Whoops, I misread and got the downgrade upload by accident rather than the upgrade download and so now the version on NI's site is 1.3.4
| putte | Posted: 17th July 2003 15:48 | |||
downgrades will be hip some day, so better dont trash it ...
| Raven | Posted: 17th July 2003 16:01 | |||
I still can't get past the 'proceed' button
| munkee | Posted: 17th July 2003 19:35 | |||
I also have a problem with the Record Box. I notice when I click on the "option" menu it does not drop down. Is there a trick?
| no_barcode | Posted: 17th July 2003 20:10 | |||
I would have to agree. These new features; the new sounds... leave me speechless.
| Raven | Posted: 18th July 2003 03:18 | |||
And I still can't get past the 'proceed' button I thought maybe maybe it was some setting in my ADSL modem/router blocking it so I tried through a dial-up connection and it is still the same I click the 'proceed' button and the bottom left corner of MS IE 5 says "connecting to site 217.199.72.213 and then says "Done" but the page does not change
| no_barcode | Posted: 18th July 2003 04:08 | |||
Why don't you upgrade your browser?
| Raven | Posted: 18th July 2003 04:53 | |||
because I don't trust Microsoft and because I have never had any problems with the one I have (untill now if this is a browser problem) like the old adage says " if it aint broke don't fix it "
| Raven | Posted: 18th July 2003 05:57 | |||
thanks for the pointer no_barcode
| spikey | Posted: 20th July 2003 14:41 | |||
Yep its available to "paying" customers right now. It was supposed to be available for DL, for the "grace-period" users who bought Abysynth 1x after Feb-2003, for free, on the 18th of July. Of course, its not available yet....
| Rabid | Posted: 21st July 2003 09:46 | |||
I have tried to order the upgrade twice. Every time I click "download" on the purchase screen it sends me back to that stupid map page. Then I select US and Kentucky, again, and it tells me I never selected a product. Using the latest IE with all patches. Robert |
