Quote:
Please accept our apologies that some of you experienced trouble with downloading the paid upgrade from Absynth 1.3 to Absynth 2.0. The phenomenal response to Absynth 2 has simply overwhelmed our servers!

We'd like to give a little "thank you" for your patience and understanding as we improve our network capacity and fix the problem.

We've prepared a special bank of 32 Absynth sounds as a small gift - 18 exclusive Absynth 2.0 sounds, and 14 sounds taken from the Sonic Expansion CD. Again, we'd like to express our apologies at the trouble and thank you for being understanding.

We're still working to fix the problem, but we hope to have it fixed by the end of the day or tomorrow. The Absynth 2.0 download link you received in the order confirmation email will be valid until noon on Wednesday, so you will have plenty of time to restart your download.

Once the problem is fixed, all 2.0 upgrade purchasers will receive an email with a link to the bonus bank.

Also please note that your credit card will NOT be charged until the download has completed.

Best,

Jake Mandell
Absynth Product Manager

Hey! When did you get that email? I only got one saying that something had gone wrong and they apologised, which confused me because nothing had gone wrong and I had been using Absynth 2 quite happily. Except in energyXT standalone beta, where things go boom the first time you press a key...

I hope that I can get the new sounds, even though I didn't have any problems!

It wasn't an email it was from the NI forum Arrow

I have tried for two days to place the order with no luck. I wonder if they are not taking orders until they get the problem worked out?

Yes, but the people that are eligible for the grace period upgrade are still not able to download anything, even though July 11, then July 18th, then Saturday or Monday of this week/past weekend were all stated as dates when the upgrade would be made available. Now we are left with, and I am paraphrasing, "hopefully sometime later this week." And certainly no mention of any "thank you" bonus bank for the grace period upgrade customers. As I stated over in the N.I. forums, I have no pressing need to have Absynth 2 right now; it's this, "they [grace period upgrade customers] didn't pay us anymore money, so they can wait 'til we get around to 'em" attitude, as expressed by Jake Mandell on the N.I. Absynth forum. Maybe I'm getting all worked up over nothing (wouldn't be the first time), but this attitude, particularly since I've purchased so many N.I. products, is just infuriating me.

No Paul- your not getting overly worked up. I feel the same way. Plus the fact that had it not been for the 2.0 upgrade I would NOT have even bought Absynth 1x back last March. So I AM a purchaser as well, but will I see these free sounds? Doubtful.... IMO we deserve the same treatment as the current buyers get, but since it is not "new money" to NI, we get treated like step children while the others get Absynth 2 now, plus new sounds. Whats happening is not right, and If I would bet if any of you are waiting as we are for this "grace period" upgrade, you would feel the same.

In case anybody does not know these patches are now available.

Minor question why were these patches held back - some of them are better than the ones included with absynth 2 - maybe they were being held back to sell another soundbank at yet more expense - just a thought!

Yes they do. I however do not think its related to the lateness of the "grace period" Absynth-2 release. It happened on Reaktor 3 and 4 too. Had this been a one time thing, you would have cause to take that stand, but have you read their forum lately? Have you seen the excuses?
From your remarks, I dont think so...

First, it was because NI was "off-work" on friday, which "happens to be the SAME day as this release was to take place- great logic there. Then, it was because of server problems (again)... Now- its because the sales dept is so stacked up with faxes and emails. I wonder what the next one will be- Locust?

You may argue that they are working on it, and it may be true my friend.
My question then is, what were they doing in preperation for it? From the looks of things- nothing. Even their excuses for the delays wernt worked on very well. Evil or Very Mad

Game's up, it seems Sad . This from the NI forum...

The bonus bank was created as an apology for a server error experienced by people who puchased the $69 download upgrade. Some people couldn't download the upgrade that they had directly paid for, which is a very frustrating situation. To apologize for this inconvenience, we created the bonus bank... the bonus bank is only for users who experienced a direct error with the NI online shop.

Dammit! Crying or Very sad

I don't know about that - I had no problems downloading on the first day, and when I went to click on my original confirmation link last night, it brought me to the patch download page - so try that link again Very Happy

16 of them are from the NI Sounds set (which I already had) and are really terrific, but the new ones are awesome too Very Happy

Altho I understand the frustration of those who tried to download A-2 after forking over the $69.00 and couldnt, they could not have been any more frustrated or upset about this delay than the "grace-period" users who were also in the wait. The "grace-period" users didnt even get a chance to download Absynth-2 until 6 days later. We ALL had to wait, and not just the current pay-ee's, and thats why I ask that NI reconsider- as it would smooth over quite a lot of bad feelings for everyone concerned.

Well, to be honest with you, I'm not that bothered. The new sounds that came with the beast are amazing anyhow - More than enough for now. Extremely satisfied Very Happy
