Many here have said that Sonic Synth is really the best budget orchestral instrument to get. What do you think of the Edirol HQ-OR. Does it match up to Sonic?

The one reason why I would NOT buy it is the copyprotection scheme they use. You have to insert the CD every 14 days to confirm ownership. Does anybody know of a way to crack that CD check. PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT want an illegal crack. I just want to know if I can get round this problem.

Really don't like the Edirol. Take a listen to the demo sounds on the Edirol site. I think you'll be running toward Sonic Synth after that. (eSoundz has demo sounds for Sonic Synth, btw)

Thanks. Sonic is still my first choice, mainly bacause of recommendations here. It just get pricey if you go for the full orchestra I believe.

Edirol sounds good for the ensemble sounds, but I didn't really like the solo sounds much at all. Then again SS's solo sounds are nothing amazing either...

I dunno, some of the solo strings are pretty useful for Bartok-style strings.
