I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good sample cds for real drums or acoustic/electric guitar. I need drums that sound as close as possible too the real thing, in the genre of rock /metal. thanks

I have heard positive things about "Drumkit From Hell", especially for hard/progressive rock.

DKFH is great, but I just bought Purrrfect drums and it's amazing!

No mp3s however...

There are a few good drum sample CDs that are worth looking at, DKFH is definately one of them, but there's also 'Pure Drums' by Yellow Tools which is top notch and Plugsound Vol. 3 which has some very tasty drumkits on it.

As for guitars, 'Pure Guitars' by Yellow Tools is very clean and well produced and the Scarbee range is great for basses and definately worth a look. There's also Plugsound Vol. 2 which I have just commented on in another thread, great Acoustic Guitars! Wink

Before going too far down this road, however, make sure that you're actually half happy with what you can make a guitar multi-sample sound like. You could waste a lot of money. Oh yeah, Hans Zimmer guitars is pretty cool.

I just mentioned the Acoustic Essentials in another thread and it actually fits nicely into this one, too because it contains both drums and acoustic guitars. It’s available in Giga and HALion native formats. Definitely more “unplugged” than “metal” but it might be worth checking out. Demos here:
