iblit/polyiblit
I mailed him 2 or 3 times, never got an answer...

So did I. With the same result...

Is it my imagination or has PolyIblit been updated?

Looks like an optimized version! The date seems to be this past Saturday.

Yay! Computer useage is down!
| pough | Posted: 25th August 2003 22:01 | |||
Boo! New version just crashes for me. Athlon XP+ 1.7GHz maybe doesn't like such optimizations... Actually, I only tried it in energyXT. Maybe I should try in other hosts...

Indeed. No sound in FLstudio, crashes Orion (amd xp1800 here). Will mail him again, with no real hope for an answer

dont know if its the problem, but im pretty sure most (all?) AMD processors dont support SSE technology - i d/led the demo of Virsyn Cube, and this problem made it crash.
| Guckli | Posted: 25th August 2003 23:18 | |||
Wrong. AMD Athlon XP supports SSE, the newer ones SSE2 as well.
| Tempest | Posted: 26th August 2003 00:17 | |||
It works fine for me in FLstudio, but someone else mentioned errors as well.

Works great on my P4. Much peppier.

The blurb on his site says that 0.91 doesn't work on Athlon XPs. Maybe that's why I couldn't get the 0.9 to work on mine - I have an Athlon (but dunno if it's an XP or not....to me a PC is a big plastic box that sounds come out of - I suppose I should pay more attention to that kind of thing really!) I assume it must be an XP by definition if PolyIblit doesn't work on it.

FWIW, the new release (0.91) causes an immediate "Poof" with my PIII + Cubase SX. The new release seems to be geared for PIV only, although YMMV.
Personally, I don't find PolyIblit 0.9 too bad on my CPU. With some warm compression, it is possible to make some absolutely wonderful analog bass sounds--I find it has a Moog-ish quality to it. Very nice, and free at that! |
