once you've registered and downloaded it, then you find out when you try to install 'windows nt only' - is that like a popular o.s. for audio or something?

They mean something with the NTFS file system-I've got the old version of Solo on my XP machine.

I'm running it on Windows 2000 just fine. Sounds like they need a more descriptive error message and more details in their requirements page... Or maybe just a WTF!? email so they can nudge some of their code.

It wont run on my Carillon winXP machine. What waste of time!

Hey Guys,

This beta invitation is not a joke, or an information gathering scheme. It is a serious attempt to cast a wide net and see what kind of technical issues we have outstanding. That's why its a beta. If you are having technical issues (Carillon XP) come see us at www.brainspawn.com/forum and post away.

It is true we are not supporting Windows 98 for the simple reason that Windows 2000 and XP offer a much more reliable scheduler and platform for time-critical audio. It greatly lessens our support worries. Sorry the NT-only error message is misleading. That's coming from our installer application, it wasn't a deliberately worded message.

Also, the invitation does offer links to our web page where the supported platform requirements are supplied.

Our goal is to do a very stable and reliable live synth host, but we can only do this if bugs are reported to us. For each bug I hear about here, we are getting numerous responses of working configurations.

Thanks

Mike Garrett

At least you got the EMail from them. I've tried twice since this morning, and have gotten nothing back in response.

Hey mgarret,

Sorry to be so caustic but this was one of the few applications that refused entirely to start. I don't recall what the error message was and I also do not remember how to generate a screenshot of such an error message. Can anyone fill me in here?

I will give it another try ce soir.

Best,
Gordon

All,

Thanks for working with us. We are spread a little thin right now but, we try to answer emails and forum posts very quickly so you won't be left hanging. There's a backlog we might not be able to address until this evening (no, its not all bugs!) Smile

And figures, when I try to send the log, I get an error saying it can't contact the server. Well, guess I'll get more spam. Yippy. Feel so stupid for even trying. Like anyone ever makes the top 50 anyway.

I've installed the forte 1.2 beta, tested it, hit some issues, sent some bug reports, and have gotten fast and helpful responses back from Brainspawn. I think Brainspawn is working hard to conduct a beta that will improve the quality of forte.

Well, I don't know if I made the beta list, but I hope I did.

Mike, I play live in our church here in Texas and rely on V-stack right now. I hate it, so I'm really hoping to use forte. We've got around 18,000 people on a weekend and the services are incredible. I've got to make sure whatever I use is extremely stable and canNOT fail. I sent a request for the beta, but haven't heard back. I would absolutely love to test it so I can try and break it Smile You guys obviously want this product to succeed and I think you guys have made an awesome decision in this type of beta.

Check out our church at www.fellowshipchurch.com to see what we do.

I got it, I tested it, I broke it (it didn't like ConcreteFX VST/VSTI), I reported it, they fixed it (-: As much as I like FLStudio, to play a synth as if it was a piece of hardware needs a host like this... although I already have Chainer & EXT standalone, we'll see how this pans out.

That's some church! And quite a good web site, some mega-churches have websites that leave something to be desired.

Hello all,

We got our 50th unique valid log file around 3:00pm today. Thank you for the response. Under some circumstances we will ask certain people who responded after that to join the beta team if they bring certain bugs and a willingness to help, or were snarled by internet problems.

Again, thank you. We have identified several problems we will fix for release. To my relief there were not too many different problems and alot of the same reports.

The 50 winners should expect an email in a few days (after we come up for air!)

We are always looking for good beta testers, so please stay in touch.

I took it home last night to give it some proper lovin' and I found a couple issues. Unfortunately, since the move we haven't been able to get the f*cking telephone people to actually show up and install an internet connection so I can't just send bugs from home. Sad I'm more than happy to stress-test this for you. It will just take a while...

1) Many plugins carp when they apparently try to load some C++ library. There are many. Check out any of the free ConcreteFX plugs to find out what's going on. I notice that someone posted earlier that this has been fixed. If so, can I get a more recent beta? Or do I need to get newer C++ libraries?

2) Vaz+ DXi had some funny issues. I clicked the down-arrow to show the UI. When you select another tab (like Program Map) and then go back, the UI disappears! Trying to change patches with the UI mostly gone netted a crash. I loaded it again and found that if you close up the UI (with the down-arrow) and then reopen it, you get the UI again and it all works fine.

I forgot to bring in the LOG file, though, to send to you. If these are new to you, I'll make sure you get the LOG file soon. If not, I won't bother.
