AuthorTopic: Any XPhraze user feedback?

I'm really enjoying it.

Once I got past the initial wow of the band-in-a-box side of it, there's some beautiful pads in there ... rivals Atmosphere, or better in some ways as the pads sync to the beat perfectly.

Does neat basses too. Riffs come out the box, but the cool thing is being able to change the riffs fairly easily ... and maybe changing every downbeat from a synth bass to a fretless bass, just for each downbeat note.

It's a bit like someone stuck Fruity Loops in a synth, instead of the other way round.

Anyone else discovering new ways to make sounds with XPhraze Question Cool

x phraze is very, very cool.

It took me a while to figure it out, but I was just stuck on one thing, and it turned out the answer was right under my nose.

I love how it changes sounds and you can control many parameters in a timeling.

I'm not so sure that I find changing the notes as useful, but some may.

I would use this as more of a rhythm and pad machine. It can make some seriously cool beats.

I am enjoying Xphraze but it is a programmers synth. One thing I do want though is much more expanded palette of multisamples to start off with.

Bizarrely I am using Xphraze more as a hardware S&S synth to create pads etc. And it just further goes to show that software can rival the hard synths. If Steinberg/Wizoo/Refx could significantly boost the basic pool of samples (and perhaps better quality with less aliasing) then I'll be delighted. Though many were very basic, the Wavestation had over 500 samples, enabling it to create far more in the way of outlandish sounds. Xphraze has (I think) only 200.

Xpansions can't come soon enough - but I hope they are reasonably priced.

Oh yes, the GUI needs looking at too....but I think they realise that.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that there'll be many more revisions of XP in due course.

It's the start of a whole new synth ballgame. There's nothing like it at all, except Energy XT (slightly).

A set of ideas like XP's got is not something anyone's going to drop in a hurry.

The only thing I see as inevitable is that the idea will be cloned before too long. Synths are a very crowded field, and devs are looking for new ways to go forward.

I think Mike Kleps has shown that already with XP.

As well as new banks, there'll be a version 2 with all the sharp corners taken out of the workflow.

No reason why it might not have a beat slicer in it one day so imported loops would always sync to tempo either.

I've heard a couple of people comment on the core sound quality, but personally it's not bothering me too much as there are so many other things to discover about it.

Very impressive sound. Are the sounds yours or are they presets? (If so which one?????) I would love the sound (particularly the choral like sound.

a bit long, but a taster of what I like about Xphraze, and what I will be using for for sure.

the Xphraze comes in at 1:12 with the noise filter thingie, and again with a nice rhythmic synth hit later on. At 2:28 I made a beat patch that slowly comes in, you can hear it if you listen closely.

cheers

Hey thanks for the info.

And yes, this months compo tune I used XPhrase for the pad, think it was Doom pad from memory (will check when I get home from work)
