AuthorTopic: Absynth 2 problems?
ageis
Posted: 3rd October 2003 11:35
I wrote a big long rant, but decided to tone it down a bit and just ask...

is it me, or does anyone else out there have issues with Absynth 2? Currently, it's my only problematic plugin. With all my problems, and what I surmise it's actually doing, Im surprised there arent more frustrated people out there.

Is it just me?

There are some issues with it...not being able to change the time in the recorderbox, handling of some samples, screen noise, etc.
However,it's still the only thing that sounds like that.I was playing around with the latest version of energyXT(Absynth 2 would crash the previous versions)and A2 this morning, and Love I could get lost like that for weeks on end.

Win XP (SP1)
Terratec DMX 6fire (336 samples/buffer)
1 GB memory

Pick a host (from Tracktion to Nuendo 2). They're all acting dicey with Absynth 2 for me.

Hi ageis,

if you head over to
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/absynth-users

Brian, Absynth's creator is always on hand to help out with Absynth related problems.

Personally I've got no problems at all with v2 (os9 vst / osx AU)

Hope you get it sorted soon

Just picked up Absynth 2 today! However, using it in Sonar 2 XL (Win ME, MOTU 2408, P3 1Ghz), there are several bugs.

1. It crashes Sonar when I try to load a different bank other than the Factory set.

2. I've read the post at NI forums that says to run the stand alone version first, close it, then run in Sonar. However when I run in stand alone version, in the setup screen, Soundcard >> Output device -- I can choose my 2408. But under Routing >> Out Channel 1 -- it says "not connected." What could be the problem? (I'm digging out the manual now!)

3. I've read that the 2.01 patch may help running it in Sonar, but I had problems registering it, so I have no auth key = no access to patch on their site.

Anyone else have similar problems?

The 2.01 patch is a MUST for any operation of Absynth 2.Hopefully they'll get back to you tomorrow about your registration problems.
For any registration problems you have, the quickest way to get an answer is to send an e-mail to register@native-instruments.com
I don't know about ME-I run A2 with Sonar 2.2XL on a PIII running XP without too many hassles.
ageis-did you try running it with a buffer size of 256?It seems to be the magic number with A2 from all I've read on the Yahoo forum(and I've always run at 256 myself).I'm also using TerraTec-an EWX24/96(essentially the same drivers as you).

I have since been able to run the stand alone version through my PC's speakers. At least I can check out all the banks in the meantime.

NI was able to do a manual registration for me. Now I can't wait to get home and download the latest patch! Let's see...only 5 hours to go!

It seems that on occasion, swiching banks from whatever it started with causes a crash in Sonar 2.2XL/3P.

You're running MOTU hardware (Good on the Mac, PC afterthough) on a PC with Windows ME (worst OS ever!)? How can you expect anything to be stable?

Even though it's WinME, my Sonar/MOTU combo has been very stable for me for several years. And, I plan to buy a new pc w/XP -- hopefully when my ASCAP check comes Wink ! It's only Absynth 2, when changing banks, that causes a crash.

Idea I think I figured this one out! Very Happy

I just copied the .glo files that were originally saved in the "Sound Library" folder and pasted them into the "Absynth 2" folder (the root folder with the application). I've been able to open other banks without crashing Sonar!!

Please try it and share your results! Very Happy Very Happy
