Did Plugsound/USBSounds go out of business? I noticed their websites have been down for a couple of days.

Kinda sucks if they did, since they have challenge/response copy protection.

God I hope not. I was sort of bummed about VSampler's library today, so I stopped by Guitar Center to look around. They had all the plugsound modules on sale for $79, so I picked up the Fretted vol 2. I already have the drums and liked them, figured what the hell.

So the Plugsound website isn't up at all. I've got ten days before the C/R kills the software. Which isn't that bad, but BigFishAudio's (where I got the drums from on sale) website has all the Plugsound modules on sale for $49.95.

That doesn't seem good to me, for two reasons. Only one is I paid $30 more. Crying or Very sad Things go on sale when companies go out of business. Are they clearing out all the Plugsound stuff?

I'm so not having a good week with C/R. First VSampler now Plugsound. Though I've been exchanging email with Maz over VSampler(and running test code) so maybe they will get it sorted.

That was my first thought when I saw your headline.

I'd better start looking for a crack, if this is true.

They better release a code for all the legit users out there! I payed $89 bux for Volume 2. Thats what I hate about this call/response bullshit. I hope they're just remodeling the site or something.

The solution is to not support vendors that use C/R product activation.

Remember, you, the consumer, are in control. Nobody is obliged to buy their products, and buying a C/R product them tells the vendor that you accept this practice.

(Yes, there are a couple of products that I might possibly reconsider this position on - Tracktion and Spectrasonics, for example - but I haven't yet. I also understand that Norton Antivirus is going to use it starting next year, but I buy a new copy each year as it is).

What's the problem with VSampler? I thought they were about to release version 3.0.

or there is just the simple possibility that their server is down..it happens...don't panic yet..if in a week there is no news well then, PANIC!

i was about to buy the world of synths volume at the big fish special price, but i think i'll wait now to be sure

The site is back up... no need to panic!

Besides, they did the UVI engine for the Spectrasonics virtual instruments and MOTU Mach Five, so I doubt that they would just completely disappear without someone taking over the authorization process.

It would be a bit embarrasing for MOTU, yes...

Yes, there seems to be an assumption that as soon as a site goes down that the company is no more Laughing

If the microsoft site went down for a day or two would you think the same then Laughing
