AuthorTopic: Dreaded clicking problem with V-Station ...

... is driving me insane! I've tried upgrading to the latest version, which "supposedly" fixed the problem, but it remains there, and not only that, as a side bonus, some presets from 1.0 don't load properly with the latest version (in Fruityloops 3.56), which makes it pretty much useless to me!

Has anyone got any ideas whats causing the clicks, increasing the attack on either the amp or filter does not remedy the problem, and it's most prominent when a sound is filtered down. At occassions, the clicking is so bad that it totally ruins the soundscape of the preset.

If anybody could throw a hint or two my way, it'd be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Try upping the latency, that useally work for me

I fail to see what this has to do with latency? It's clearly an artifact that is generated by the synth itself, you *can* filter out teh high end to get rid of it, but you lose some of the character of the sound itself, thanks anyways tho.

Easiest way to tell if it's a latency issue-bounce it to a track, mute the synth and play the track. If the clicks are still there,it's in the synth. If not,it's a latency issue.

It's definitely a synth issue, my latency is already at 2048 samples (46ms), that should be enough to cover a wide variety of synths, but even so, shouldn't it technically not be there when you export, as it can take as long as it wants to calculate whatever it needs to?

I suggest you contact Novation's technical support if your not going to even try peoples suggestions here. It could be numerous things wrong with your setup so a bit more info about it may help.

If your running 46ms ASIO latency then it probably isn't latency but if your using DX drivers or MME then this figure is pretty low and may need raising. It could be an issue with Fruityloops VST implementation, simple digital clipping (too loud), dodgy system setup or even other plugins/software loaded on your system.

Post the synth patch and get some other V-station users to try it and confirm its a bug. Have you any other host to try it in?

I have tried upping the latency (ASIO), to no avail. As for whether the 'bug' is reproducable on others setup, I sent it to another person and he noticed the same issue, here's the patch in question, feel free to examine it yourself.

The clicks are most noticable when the sound is filtered out, say around 32.

It's in V-Stations .mid format, so use the import function under "Global".

Here is also a sample clip, raise the volume to a decent level. Clip is about 400k.

I dont seem to hear a click, but it is really noisy in here right now (music is on). At what time is the click?

It's on every single note, pretty audible on my setup.

is it just some preset or all sounds? I never experienced any problems when I tried v-station in fl studio (haven't tried floops 3.56). If it's just some preset you could send it to novation for them to fix the problem. I guess it's not an audio card related problem if you can filter the clicks out in software.

i hear the "click" on your mp3..

its a light 'chirrk' sound.. sounds like either aliasing or too much reso to my untrained ears. Laughing

its easily heard when i boost 6khz on the eq in winamp up to max..

but thats a cool little trance melody you have going there though.. Smile

The noise is very difficult to hear to be honest (although I do think I hear what you're talking about esp around the 18 sec mark.) Does adjusting the attack of the preset help any?

My first suspicion would be to try it with the FX off, and then with less resonance, just to see if it's any of those causing what you hear.

I have a minor click problem on the mac version, when i first launch v-station. I get a couple of clicks, a cpu spike, then everything settles down and it doesn't happen again. unrelated to pc i know, but i thought i'd mention it, as it happens every single time, and the only AU instr that does it
