Good to see a few more synths than on your first poll! But there's still loads missing. . .

Wot? No FM7?

Best for what?Analog emulation?Unexplored soundscape creation?Lead, bass, pads, techno, rock, pop, etc etc......Kind of like asking what motor vehicle is the best.Best for driving really fast around tight mountain roads or best for hauling a load of musical gear to a gig.Apples and oranges and flame bait to boot..... Rolling Eyes
(and the list is horribly incomplete)

Had to cut at least 20 VSTi from the Poll... Sad

Sad, Ben should allow more options and not tell
me after I entered 30 that I added too many. Mad

And then I had to find out myself how many are allowed... Help

Yes, but even if you were allowed to list every VSTi ever you`d still get these replies.

How can you compare a VA synth to something like sampletank?

um- I own over 200 VSTis- yet the only onw I have that is on your list is z3ta+ Question

and z3ta+ is not that great-

the best is VAZ MODULAR-

PPG/ Tassman/ Crystal/ etc are all somewhere at the top

without sounding *too* stupid, how do I vote ?

I can only find a "reply" button ?

Anyway, Reaktor would be my first choice.. best, most versatile VSTi ever !

best free: Crystal. With the number of sounds available, patches available, and modulation possibilities this is a no-brainer. I usually use at least one instance per song.

best paid: z3ta+ seems to take this crown.. what can't you do with it? only downside is fairly high cpu usage.

I love Z3ta! I'm not too good at programming yet, but I'm working on it Laughing I find it somewhat sad that Rhino doesn't have any votes thus far, because it's my second favorite(and I've been working on trying to program it but I just don't get FM synthesis yet)

Ok, I'll admit it I just not very good a programming patches at all....I'm waaaay better at tweeking Razz

Edit: strike that, Rhino has 18% Wink

actually, it is a bit of a pointless poll for many reasons others pointed out, butout of that particualr list, i do have an opinion ,and that's rhino, and is what i voted for...mind you i think rhino is still the world's best vsti so it wasn't a hard choice.!

Best vsti for what ?

We could get into who is the best looking girl in the
world but there is no real answer. Best? Maybe applys
to sports and games but from an artistic view point or appearances there really is no best. Just personal tastes.

Most popular maybe. But the most popular things in this world are surly not the best,

Someone laughed at the neon. I actually have used the neon in about 4 tracks as opposed to absynth which I have used in 1 or 2 ....so for me neon ranks higher.

Once the Virtual Kazoo gets made, topics like this will be a thing of the past.

hey solaris, you need to be logged in to be able to vote; 'guests' only see the results. even if you are a member, you are treated as a guest until you log in.

i interpret the question to be, "choose your fav from those"; since obviously there are tons of others.

Errr...

  1. Xphrase
  2. Absynth
