I am a newbe to the forums. I am using SX with mostly vsti and making trance and house music. When finished with mixing I will have a pro master our music, so my question is... Is it a goood idea to take all your drum tracks and bass track and send them to a group track and apply compression to add more punch or just leave that for mastering?

firstly-welcome to kvr- secondly- wrong forum, should be in fx or even everything else (audio related).. but, anyway, your question is very broad..it sounds like you are not only a newbie to this forum, but mixing in general. The answer to your question really is, it depends on the material, and that's the bottom line. sometimes something will need compression, othertimes not.
