[edit] Regaurding EnergyXT in general [/edit]
Wow is that skin new? Looks great. Haven't gotten past the quick glance until now. Do you mind answering some questions or pointing me to the proper source?

-Is there a midi learn for inbedded vsts? If not can I only control them through the midi in? (Meaning I have to know their cc's Sad and remap my controller) PS I saw the mapping for level out.

-Is there a way to adjust the levels for each individual connection (send) without inserting a mixer? I almost always don't want to send the full level.

-Does it only support 1 midi channel in? 1 midi out?

-Is there a replace module function?

Looks like it has all the makings for being a beautiful modular mixing environment for my whole song, (like buzz machine view Very Happy ) but right now is only geared for one 'instrument' (like chainer).

Thank you jorgen! eXT ROCKS!

Ok I found the midi patcher/mapper. So I can use a bunch of channels. Smile
I like the mixer (for a mixer) but would still perfer to do inline mixing (having a level visible on each connection) no mixer would be needed.
Still haven figured out how to control parameter changes of the imbedded vsts from the host (since the vst parameters aren't listed as they would be if that effect/instrument were hosted directly by my host).

i'm even denser than that.
what do envelopes do? i can't seem to get anything to happen in vst instrument mode placing the envelope betwwen master in and instrument I'd expect something to happen, but no.
and alack, there's no help on envelopes -- so that must be because it's so obvious how this should work and i'm just dense and lost -- at least for the moment

Naw, jorgen just adds features faster than he can document them.

Don't put envelopes BETWEEN things, put them BESIDE your synth. I'm at work right now, so I can't really get things to work (no ASIO) to test, but maybe I can help from memory...

It will probably help if you know the CC map of your synth, but maybe energyXT's routing (explained above) will work. Patch the envelope into a synth and match the CC on it (top, second from right, beside beats) with the CC you want it to operate on. You can set the CC# by clicking and dragging up or down. Then set the mode to "Run" and see what happens. I don't really know what the other two modes do... Embarassed

soma, send mixing is coming for sure. Actually, it's planned for the next version.

MIDI learn is on my todo-list as well as replace VST...

wrench45us, I've been a bit slow on the documentation side. Embarassed

thanks

That's where people like me, who just happened to click, right-click or shift click on something one day and discovered something new, come in handy!

BTW, jorgen, what do the other envelope modes do?
jorgen
Posted: 1st November 2003 09:52
envelope modes!

sync: envelope is (re)started by each note-on
legato: envelope is started by note-on, but it keeps count of note-on's and will only restart the envelope if count = 0.

With sync/legato you can add a real-time envelope to any VST parameter on earth. Very Happy

TRUE POWER!
Can't wait for the updates!!! Very Happy
Thanks for all your help guys this tool will allow me to keep mixing music like I din in buzz but with the flexibility of tracktion, etc.

[ps you might want to take a look a the Polac vst loader for buzz. It has features I've never seen anywhere else before, preset morphing of selected parameters interanl LFO in the loader, etc. It seems to be pushing boundaries about as fast as you are. PM me if you need help getting it set up.]

Now I'm really starting to investigate the envelope comp and I'm finding it way more powerful and cool than I had thought! Surprised

thta's about what i figured playing with it.
the run is free run, and is esp. active in ADSR mode -- lots o extra trigger action.
i played with it a lot last night. it works great to redirect the mod wheel to cc16 with albino patches.

so another question -- after trying left and right mouses and drags, i don't get the number of notes that show up in the chord sequencer -- is there a way to control that. I can add notes, but i can't drag the 'active' box out to include them
wrench45us

never mind this was one case where a more careful reading of the help file would have prevented the question above -- answer is shift left click drag

just sent in my order -- great product

Many thanks!

Also for those interested there's a slightly updated version of my 'shifrin' skin tweaked for the 1.23 Final release of eXT. Get it here :-

Is anyone else having problms with versions 1.2 and after in Tracktion. I have a track with 4 instances of eXT and now only 2 of those instances are working. The other 2 don't seem to be receiving midi or producing audio.
So I'm still using version 1.18 or something - not sure exactly which version.

i got my license key and went to use the latest beta in Project 5 from the piano roll and playing once through a pattern it worked, the second time there were excessive delays triggering midi notes. by the third time P-5 went into cpu overload.
i get no such problems playing through live from a keyboard controller.
am i missing some setting?

well so much for that.

i rearranged out of energyXT with the same instruments in separate channels with the same chords and arps with no problem.
not much time to look into it more than that.

I can't seem to find what the difference between a registared version and un-registared version is besides a clear conscious.

Unregistered versions can't load .ext files. I think. And there may be more to it than that.

Yes, I've also had tracktion slow to almost a complete halt when trying to open VST gui's within eXT.

I haven't tried that, yet. I probably won't get to for a long while, either. Maybe I'll get around to it late tonight or tomorrow night. Are you on the massiva/energyXT forum? It might be worth mentioning over there...

Not to hijack this thread to badly (BTW, jorg the borg, thank you for yet another incredible update!)...

Have any of you tried to use eXT in Ableton Live using the VST Effect version? I haven't figured out how to get MIDI to work with it. Will I have to use MIDIOX?
drez
Posted: 3rd November 2003 11:28
Jorgen, I would REALLY love to see a rewire version of energyXT. I think it would lower the CPU utilization compared to the VST version (not that it is hard on the CPU, but every bit helps Very Happy ) and it would integrate really well into Live (and other rewireable hosts)that way. FXpansion is creating a VST-Rewire thingy but if YOU made eXT a Rewire Slave, you could then load it into Protools and use VST's as well! Surprised

Maybe the VST Effect version will work great, but I'd love to have rewire ability because it would show up within Live from a List in the drop down menu for the Track and kaPOW, they're it'd be!

Thanks again.

well i used energyXT in my latest P-5 assemblage and after a few glitches and redos and finally getting the key file in the right folder so I could save my setup, i saved everything and shut my system down.

next day (last night) opened the project up and energyXT was in the track list, but clicking on it to bring up its view only showed an empty blue field. not nice.
P-5 plays what was there when i last saved everything, but this is really not so great. hard to change what you can't see. making me wary about using it.

i like what it does when it works, but is this really a stable product? is it just this beta version? i can't seem to find an older 'released' version on the website.

any suggestions? i'm thinking reinstall?
jorgen

wrench45us,

latest release is at http://www.webmassiva.com/energyXT

See the Download energyXT section on the left

This version is supposed to fix all reported bugs during the v1.23 beta stage.

Let me know if it doesn't solve your problem(s).

i downloaded v 1.23 and reinstalled. the saved version in P-5 still brought up a window that was either empty or wouldn't refresh.
i deleted the track and re-inserted energyXT, loaded it up with the saved .ext file and it displayed and responded as expected. saved the project, reloaded a few times and it seems to persist correctly.
so all's well that ends well
thanks for your response and for creating such an innovative vst. looking forward to working with this more.
