I think any NI user can attest to the fact that NI does not adhere to any proposed schedule. It's actually kinda silly... I don't know why they bother anymore.

Is it just me, or does NI seem to be foundering more heavily than usual?

1. The constantly missed dates.
2. The rushed upgrades (poor testing/multiple patches)
3. Challenge/Response
4. The big box specials.

And now, it seems as though the buyout rumors have started.

Just my opinion, admittedly filled with a lot of speculation.
