AuthorTopic: Automating VST's in Cubase SX

Ok I'm kinda new to Cubase but I'm starting to use it more and more lately. I'm trying to use the V-Station in a track I'm working on right now but I'm needing to automate certain features on the synth, like the filter cutoff for instance. The thing is I'm really used to Reason and how you can just pick something to automate and then just draw it into the sequencer. Is this possible in Cubase or with the V-Station? I'm really confused here, I know there's got to be a way to do it!

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks guys!

Click the W (write) button on the VSTi, click record. Move the item you want to automate on the VSTi with your mouse, click stop. Toggle off W. Go to View, select All Used Automation. Then check the arrange window, you should see an automation track. Draw in the automation with the pencil tool. Select R (read) on the VSTi for playback.

I'm no expert here, but I think I know how so.... Make a midi track, asign it to the synth you want to automate. Make a melody. Now there are 2 ways of automating events. you can do it within a pattern, or you can record it as the song plays. I'll explain the second one.
When you got the mellody and want to automate it open the VSTi editor and click on the W (top left corner). Now just press play and tweak it realtime and it will be recorded. Before you can hear the results, you must turn off W, and turn on R (read). Smile

Thanks for the response guys! Smile Isn't there a way for me to just assign whatever knob on my V-station to the midi control panel in the sequencer, so that I can just draw which effect I need in there? I see it's already setup like that with say the main volume for instance, so is there a way to add other things to that list for automation?

thanks again!
