There are a lot of great Hammond B3 clones out there, but I'm looking for something else.

Lately, I've been looking into organs/proto-synthesizers made in the 40s and 50s. Instruments like the Clavioline, Musictron, Jenny Ondioline, etc. Basically the Del Shannon "Runaway" sound.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, with another VSTI close to it or a link to the specs to these types of instruments, I'd appreciate it. Oh yeah, I make VST's with Synthedit, so chances are I'd knock out a version of one and put it on my site for free.

Hmm... reminds me of the Solovox, Hammond's counterpart to the Clavioline. I may have to check out that sample CD... or get an internet buddy that has a Solovox (or several) to sample it for me.

Hmm... reminds me of the sound you get when you crush a small man's testicles. Or maybe the sound of a frightened bagpipe. A squeaking balloon and a teakettle's whistle? Hard to describe, harder to listen to.

EDIT: Maybe I listened to the wrong examples. Give a listen to Del Shannon's Do Ya Wanna Dance or Sun Ra's Thither and Yon to see what I mean.

I think this might be okay for that "Runaway" sound

Mmnn...yeah!! Cool I've been wishing someone would
clone a Hammond Novachord for ages. This beast is
arguably the first synthesizer marketed, making it's
debut in 1939!!

The same guy I know that has a Solovox also has a Novachord (and probably 10+ A/B/C/etc Hammonds - including a custom-rebuilt "A3"). I believe he sampled it for someone.

Hmmm.... I love those old organs too. If I ever get around to it, I'm going to sample a friend's optigan... he has all of the original optical discs... amazing stuff.

Anyway, 40s and 50s... I dunno if I've found anything that early... Smile I found a free farfisa organ soundfont that I like... sounds like a a 60s organ to me...

I don't remember where I got it, so I uploaded it to my site for ya...

Honestly, i would be, by my side, much more interested of an emulation of any of these babies rather than another VA vintage emulation
