Which one should I go for?

Depends on what you want it for.
Demo versions are available for both synths. They each take slightly different approaches to analyze wav files that can then be used by their respective additive synth engines. Vertigo's method can be used with drum loops while Cameleon5000 is suited for single note samples. I purchased Cameleon because I like SuperCamelPhat. I have not been disappointed. I also own and will continue to use the hell out of Cube. I came very near to purchasing Vertigo. These are tough times for additive synth fans...because there are starting to be such great choices out there.

The biggest thing to consider is Vertigo and your CPU. Cameleon from what I've seen so far seems to be pretty CPU friendly in comparison. Try the demos is the best suggestion, since that's what they're there for. Devon

yes! absolutel! I was pleasantly surprised even on my 400mhz fsb p4 2.4 slow chipset single channel ddr laptop, tat i got good performance out of cameleon. of course, there were some presets that took me to about 70% cpu, but they were few and far between...this was with 4 note polyphony. the last thing i remmebr about vertigo, was that it choked my athlon 3200 to death with every preset

definitely spend some time with the two demo versions (and read the manuals!) they are so different that you should get a good feel for where the two are coming from pretty quickly.
imho... -both are excellent -both have their strengths and weaknesses -each approaches resynthesis from a different mindset -each has a unique tonal character thats very different from the other so which one is best for you really depends on: -which makes you feel more creative -which has the more pleasing tone to you -which provides the features that are most important to you (including both synthesis features, and resynthesis features.) -ugo ps. a note on the cpu usage difference... with both synths set to 64 partials, their cpu usage is nearly the same. however, where as cameleon has a maximum of 64 partials, vertigo can go all the way up to 265...and that requires a whole lot more processing power. so its not really that one is all that much more efficient than the other, but that one has an additional feature that, if used, will require more juice from your computer.

Personally, from just fiddling with demos I liked Vertigo much better. But YMMV.
