Just been watching Blade Runner again. One of my all time favourite films. Anyone know if there are any VSTi's and patches out there that can make some of those lovely haunting sounds from it?

Presumably the Arturia CS-80V would be nice!

For fear of stating the obvious, it would seem that Arturia's CS80V would be the most likely candidate, as Vangelis used a CS80 extensively for that soundtrack...

Beat me to it! | ||||||||

I knew that but I don't have it and the demo didn't have any presets that sounded like it (+ it was too much for my CPU) - anyone programmed anything specifically to emulate the Blade Runner sounds? (I'd be prepared to reconsider the CS80 if you tell me the full version comes with such patches but otherwise are there alternatives available?)

Ive found that the PPG Wave can generate some sounds that are close.

The Oddity actually has a "Blade Runner" patch that is a pretty good (yet cheap) imitation of the brassy synth lead used in the soundtrack every now and then.
However, to get those luscious synth strings, you need the CS80V! As a free alternative, the SuperWave P8 VSTi might do the job for you.

So does Absynth. Well, about every synth seems to have one.

Yeah this preset is just a recreation of the pattern played at the very beginning of the movie. 'Tick

Hi,
Cameleon 5000 has got a number of Blade Runner inspired patches http://www.camelaudio.com/productsCA5000.htm. They're mostly done by Tim-Conrardy, and I think at least one of them has got Vangelis in the name. (I can't remember if any of these sounds are in the demo). BTW. I think Blade Runner is an absolutely brilliant film, and the sound track even more so. I was introduced to it by a friend who's a bit of an obsessive Vangelis fan - I think he's got nearly all the albums he's ever written, having visited a ridiculous number of second hand record shops Ben |
