I've had a look at ultrachopper, but are there any good free ones that do the same thing?

there is a buzz machine called rhythm gate that I would love to have as a vst. If anyone is reading this and knows of something similar I'd like to hear it.

Hmm... any good free ones that are free?

I don't exactly what you're looking for, and if it's an effect, it should maybe be asked in the effects forum, but check these out:

SupaTrigga

TobyBear's Deconstructor

I'm sure other people here will have some other ones that they know of...

There's also the luvverly free Scuzzphut - kill the filters/delays and you have standard pattern gating, keep the filters/delays and you have literally hours of fun...

Scuzzphut

Also check out Anarchy Rhythms in the effects drop-down for something similar, but different. (edit: sorry, not free... what was I thinking?!)

Hope this helps Smile

I remember comming across some lame Steinberg thing called Chopper once. If you see it, don't bother with it. Cool

TobyBear's Alligater is a very good normal gate, and DestroyFX (http://www.smartelectronix.com) Skidder is a very good not-so-normal gate Razz

if you like the chopper, you'll love steinberg's midi gate. it gives you much more control over the chopping pattern, bacause you can use your own sequences viy midi. moreover, you can adjust (and of course modulate) attack and release times of the gate effekt.

it's fun!
