AuthorTopic: Controlling BFD in Logic with Roland Handsonic
Pfd4
Posted: 28th November 2003 19:45
I just got fxpansion's BFD Acoustic Drum Module. Managed to get it to work as an AU in Logic 6. I'm now trying to use my brother's Roland HPD-15 Handsonic percussion controller to control the BFD via midi.
The roland works as a a mult-instrument to record its own internal sounds on regular midi tracks in Logic.
But when I tried to use it as a controller, I ran into a lot of problems:
Instead of triggering the BFD sounds, the roland pads are controlling the ambient faders on BFD's GUI. I don't understand why; both the main transport window in Logic as well as the monitor in the clicks & ports environment show that the Roland is transmitting NOTE ON messages in the same key range as my controller keyboard, which DOES trigger the BFD sounds.
One difference that I noticed, though, is that every now and then a Note ON message from my keyboard controller will show up in the monitor preceded by the letter 'c,' while the same messages from the Roland controller will sometimes be preceded by the letter 'p.' Is the Roland controller sending Midi fader values or something that have to be transformed in Logic's environment to normal Midi CC #'s? Or is something else causing the problem? (Too bad the BFD doesn't have a Midi Learn feature like Phatmatik).
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

you should make sure that the handsonic only sends midi messages to the drum notes and nothing else, you'll probably have to look into the settings of it...

its a nice controller the handsonic, i just wish i didnt cost as much as it does or i would get one myself.
