Not so much concerned w/ the library, more intrested in CPU/Ram consumption & how it sounds.
Anyone? | ||

Hi,
Had Intakt for over a week now. It sounds great!! It has almost replaced Battery as you can filter every drum hit differently. I also have Kontakt 1.5 which does the same job really but is a lot more fiddley. Intakt sounds just like kontakt. NI uses: 1.Battery(Drum hits & One shot Samples) 2.Intakt (As above but with Filters and great for Loops etc). 3.Kontakt (Everything else!!!) Cheers.

KingofBeers ... I've been thinking about getting Intakt.
Can I ask a couple of questions? - Can I easily browse and audition my existing loop libraries? - And can I then easily drag and drop selected loops to the virtual keyboard? I'm looking for something that brings Acid into Cubase, ie, quickly put 30+ loops onto the keyboard for jamming, all in tempo, all in pitch. I have PhatPro for mangling. But PPro is no good for handling large amounts of loops. It's more of a selective tool for manipulating a small quantity of loops. I know the Intakt spec appears to do what I ask, but it's good to ask someone who's doing it. What I want to avoid is awkward Import menu functions, and complex setup times before I can start jamming away at the keyboard Hope this is understandable. Help / advice appreciated.

Hey Kevvvvv,
Intakt is what you are looking for. In the bottom left-hand corner is the browser. You hit the Auto button and when you click on a wave file it plays. So auditiong is slick. Second, you can drag and drop files from the browser onto the keyboard and load it up with tons of loops. The disks that come with Intakt have instruments set up this way for auditioning and playing purposes--just load the All instruments patch and loops are mapped across the keyboard. Hope this helps.

Cheers, Fred Can I ask ... will Intakt load up my acid and other loops and allow auditioning with temp sync?

Awsome, this is the kind of info I was after..Thanks

Kevvvvv,
No, you can't sync the loops in the browser to the host sequencer tempo. You have to load them into the Intakt engine first. Then you can sync up in beat or time machine mode.

Ive got about a week left to use it. Not sure if I can scrape enough dough by the time the deal lasts but...
I like it. I think Id use it more than kontakt because Im more of a sample mangler anyway. If I had both I would use kontakt for complex mapping. I use time machine most of the time. The mod wheel controlling the cutoff is a wonderful thing...I used Intakt on a track called Narx which I posted in the Cafe...please check it out....

Yeah, The reason I was curious about Intakt was that I saw AudioMidi had it on sale for $149.00 which I think is pretty reasonable considering it's an app. & 1.5. gigs of data.

Because I own Kontakt I was able to get Intakt for $99 from NI. Even though Kontakt 1.5 has the beat and time machine modes, I concluded that the Intakt interface was much more friendly for dealing with loops.
Don't forget that Intakt can read REX and REX2 files as well, so it is pretty versatile. I also tried the beat slicing with the midi file export and it works well. I have so much to learn now: Intakt, BFD and Garritan Personal Orchestra (which arrived today.) The simplicity of Cakewalk 2.0 for DOS is a distant memory. These new tools are unbelievable.

Kevvv..Sorry I'm a bit late with replies!!!(Been Very Busy!!)
Looks like a lot has been covered with the replies, but I will add that the Library is OK, not amazing but usable. Intakt is better for mangling loops than Kontakt because of the interface, Intakt is quick and speedy, Kontakt takes a little longer to set up but does the same job. I have them both and like I said in my last post, Intakt for loops, Kontakt for everything else. Cheers.
