AuthorTopic: Where can I get a Farfisa VST?
Cheeso

Anyone know where to get a vst that makes Farfisa sounds? Or even Farfisa soudfonts?

Thanks!

Have you looked at the DashSignature ComboSister?

I own a Farfisa VIP 255 which I picked up for $250 a few months ago at a music store that was going out of business in Newark NJ of all places. The thing was sitting in the store since it was brand new and just never sold, and a band I had been working with just paid me some money they owed me so I had two hundred in cash burning a hole in my pocket. The thing works beautifully (though is slowly getting a bit scratchy), is cosmetically great, and even came with the original leather Farfisa carrying bag. I think the only thing missing may be foot pedals.

Anyway enough about my find. Combosister from Dash Synthesis is the ONLY option for you. Don't fuck about with anything else. Combosister sounds more like a Vox combo organ than a Farfisa, but that's not a bad thing at all. Plus I think at times it does Farfisa sounds better than my real Farfisa. Plus it's fairly cheap (around $50-60 US now I think). Seriously, I love vintage combo organs and Combosister is so good that a lot of times I'd rather play that over the Farfisa sitting right next to my midi controller (unless I want to run my Farfisa through some guitar stomp boxes, mmmm Pro Co Rat and organ good).

Thanks all...and congrats on your find.

I saw a Duo-Compact at a place in Hollywood called Future Music for about $400-but, I didn't know if that was a good price or not. Everything else in that store was overpriced so I figured it must've been, too.

Thanks again!

Cheeso (on my way to check out Combosister)

Hey Cheeso, if you ever come across a working Vox Continental, Super Continental or Jaguar in the $400-500 range and don't buy it yourself, lemmie know. You sound like a real organ person too, you'll love Combosister. If you want to have some fun with it grab the free Boss DS-1 emulation (sucks on guitar tracks) from the Simulog Guitar Suite bundle, and run that on top of combo sister for some wicked Eels like distorted organ tones. Only problem is that it will only distort one channel, so you can do either a clean/distorted left/right thing, or bounce Combosister down to mono. Damn I love Combosister.

Here's a Farfisa soundfont I like... Can't remember where I found it, but it was one of the free sites.

I have a red farfisa combo compact organ just like the one Smashmouth had in their "Walking on the Sun" video.

I always wanted to use the sound of a farfisa switching off but they beat me to it.

Love that sound.

I have to second the recommendation for DashSignature ComboSister. It's inexpensive and should give you the expressiveness and flexibility you need....

I have B-4 (I got it to use standalone, before I got into sequencing and VSTI's). It sounds great, but the GUI is a bit big, particularly inside a host where it's only one of the instruments involved.

The random CD check is annoying too (there's rumors on one of the Hammond mailing lists of a new version, but it'll probably use C/R Mad instead).

I'd recommend Combo Sister instead (it's only US$29.95 until 12/31). If I was doing it over again, I'd get Combo Sister and Linplug DaOrgan instead of B-4.

How about this site? A lot of other good vintage sounds as well, including. . . THE DUBREQ STYLOPHONE!

Here is a great sampled Farfisa for Kontakt, EXS-24, etc.

Very inexpensive if you already have a sampler.
