AuthorTopic: ATTN DevonB or anyone else using Reaktor in SX!

I had this problem with the Session Demo in SX: "I would choose a patch, but upon pressing record or playback in SX Session would revert to patch 1."

Sure can It's a weird glitch in SX that makes it go back to patch 1-it initializes Reaktor's patch selection.Right click on the ensemble to bring up the properties, and uncheck recall by MIDI.
All the knobs have properties pages as well. The easiest thing to do is right click on what you want to control and choose MIDI learn. If it doesn't appear as an option(or doesn't work),go into the properties for that knob and make sure Activate MIDI in is checked.

The reason why it does that because in the inspector, you have patch 1 selected. If you select the patch number from the inspector, it won't switch back.

Well, I have a small problem. When I assign Resktor Session to a MIDI track in SX, if I select MIDI channel 1 in the Inspector it doesn't show "Bank" and only shows a menu full of <empty>'s, instead of numbers. However, if I select any Midi channel above 1 in the inspector it shows "Bank" and "Patch" and will have numbers for both. Do you know what the problem is?

Thanks!!!

what happens if you select any midi channel above 1
in the inspector , select your patch and then change
the midi channel back to #1 ?

Doesn't work... Sad

And just to clarify, when Channel 1 is selected, it shows this:

chn: 1

prg: <empty>
<empty>
<empty>
etc.........

when a channel above 1 is seleted, it shows this:

chn: 2-16

bank: 1 prg: 1
2 2
3 3
etc......

If that makes any sense! Smile

EDIT: It's not letting my type out my diagram properly!

Should be Prg for Program. Don't touch the channel selection. I can't find a screenshot to save my life. They're all to blurry, or missing that part of the inspector. I'd have to wait to get home to check for you otherwise. Or make me a screen shot with a control printscreen.

Thanks!

Yeah, it is prg for program. prg shoes up under all MIDI channels, it's just the difference is that on Channel 1 only prg shows up (and not bank) and only shows many <empty>'s rather than numbers. I think I already made this clear... Embarassed

I WOULD make a screenshot, but my PC DAW isn't networked to my internet PC, and I don't have any blank media right now, either....

Ok, here's the scoop. I didn't think is was this much of a pain in the ass, but it is.

Some things seem to save out perfect, without any fiddling whatsoever. BUT if for some reason it doesn't work, you'll have to click on Prg: and count down to the preset you want to be automatically selected, so if it's 18, you have to make sure Empty is the 18th in the list. This was the way I had to do it for Uranus. For some of the others like Carbon and Kalidon, I'd select one in the Reaktor interface, save, pull it back up, and it worked fine. Very finicky. If you want to more easily select a number in the list, unselect Reaktor as your output, it'll switch back to the bnk and prg again, select with prg you want say 82 for example, then reselect Reaktor as your out, and it should work. Pain in the ass, but dont' scream at me, scream at NI. Have also noticed it works better on things like Junatik that you select the patch on the bottom selection, and not the top one on ensemble within the interface. It's going to take some playing, as it seems (I haven't used Reaktor much these days since I got Cubase actually) it depends on which module you selected. If you find out more stuff by playing, let me know. That should get you started.

Yeah, Reaktor is definitely weird there. In SL, I tend to use the list editor and just add in program change messages.

Thanks DevonB!
Helpful, plus it also makes me feel more secure that it's not just me! Razz

Prog: Yeah, I might end up using the list editor...

Thanks again!

I started a new thread about this, but I'll ask here just to be thorough Smile:

I can now usually get my instruments to recall patches, but not FX. How do I get the fx to recall pacthes, and not keep reverting to the default on me?

Thanks

OK...here's how to do it...Have a MIDI track for the effect.
In the effect you want to recall, bring up the first page of the properties, and check recall by MIDI AND snapshot master for plugin. Now,when you go to your banks in Cubase, you should have a second listing for banks-the second one should have all your snap names.Select your desired snap.
Remember to save both the snap AND the ensemble if you change anything.
