i found a plugin called x_chanter at http://home.earthlink.net/~plattermatic/vsti.html#x_chanter

anyone knows how to get sound out of it?

the description says: " this synger-derived 'algorithmic vocalist' uses a cut-down phoneme set based on polynesian languages.. perfect for 'singing monk' sounds.
x_chanter differs from other algorithmic tools by employing lance putnam's henon oscillator; the henon equation being used to describe planetary orbits.
i'm not sure which version i've got posted.. the version i use maintains the same bpm settings between patches (ie. better suited to utility) whereas the version that's probably up changes bpm settings between presets in order to better illustrate applications."

The plugin is catagorized under: composition tools

Works fine in FLStudio, although I'm not sure what 'fine' means in this case - it sounds MAD!!

good to hear that xchanter works in fruityloops and cubase. Can anyone explain how to activate xchanter in fruityloops?

xchanter is used like any other vsti - play a note - the pitch will affect the output so you might not hear it if you're playing really low notes? :p

if it's not working at all, you could try this, which lacks the henon .sep

imo the presets are less amusing but atm i'm trying to get a bunch of models done so i can go use em Smile

so far, added http://www.dancetech.com/file-library/PLUGIN/qpluck.zip

and a brass model is imminent.

in a couple of days i will put together an html or pdf manual to explain the lot..

i finally got it singing and it sounds .... mysterious, it calls up traces of .... don't let me drift away. It's great. Right now I've activated xchanter two times in fruityloops and have 2 throat singers, the chieftan and the ancient on, vibrating the air, slowly exploring the knobs.

on the one hand, it seemed a natural application of my algorithmic and vocal synthesis interests in order to offer the public a provocative application of synthedit and thus demonstrate the benefits of synergetic/open source attitudes; on the other, it's like some dubious 18th century table tapping routine meets hal from 2001.

sorry steinberg or no one's put anyhting out that reads from the score lyrics yet? :p
