I bought a good upright bass from www.wizoosounds.com. Cost $10-$20 for the XXL version, something like that.

Wizoo also do a nice Fender Precision roundwound electric bass for a similiar price.

There's a free set of samples at http://www.echochamber.ch/ that I use for acoustic stuff like:

http://www.markleford.com/music/files/03_08_markleford_smokelounge.mp3  (1.4Mb)
http://www.markleford.com/music/files/03_02_markleford_Bloog.mp3 (1.1Mb)

The samples include a mapping for EXS, but they're provided in .wav format so I did a mapping for Reason NN-XT.

Thx Markleford!
Very nice tunes...
Bloog, great 7/8 odd time groove...very nice the bass. Smile ...just downloading the samples.
Smokelounge, like the title says, very relaxed.
I like this open feeling of your playing.
Btw...would you like to make a collaboration track with a guitar player (me..lol)?
Cheers

Someone over on cubase.net mentioned these eBay items. You might want to check with the seller that he’s actually the developer (i.e. copyright holder) of these sample libraries, just to make sure everything’s koscher. The mp3 demos sound very nice, especially at that price.

Get the Plugsound fretted module. The most amazing jazzy uprights ever are in there...

BTW, I'd advise anyone to get the Plugsound box. 6 modules that will end all your samling needz.

Got mine running amazingly stable under osx.

Ay,

Black.
