Hi,

Can you define what you mean by sub sound? Do you mean subbass or something else?

Cheers, Jo

I've often battled to get sub-basses, and have often resorted to using samples, but the best results I ever got from a VSTi were from V-station (preset Bass6 and then tweak a bit).

I like Wasp also. I think I did some with Triangle II. I also experimented with them using QuadraSID.

Oh yeah, before I purchased Pentagon, Triangle-II was my de facto workhorse for many things, not the least of which is bass. And the price is right.

Be forewarned however, you will become a Triangle addict, and will lust after Pentagon untill you pay up. Rene includes some very subversive code in his synths which serve to subconsciously brainwash you into wanting to buy z3ta and Pentagon. And rightfully so!

has anyone have experienced ESM, its part of logic audios synths, I think. I heard its pretty good for subbass, and main bass also.

The subbass sound is basicly a sine wave. Try programing a simple sine way and then maybe some filter resonance. No effects. It's best "felt" rather than heard.

I'll go with DKeenum on that one - there are quite a few synths that will give a reasonable sub, but where loads of people go wrong is trying to filter it up to make it "fat" - that is the surest way to kill anything sub-80Hz. If you want fat and squelchy you have to layer a bassline an octave or so over the top of the sub.

I quite like Linplugs Freealpha for sine basses. I tried Claw, but it doesn't seem to give those low wobbly basses for some reason - which is a shame as its a good 202 sim mostly........which brings me onto my favourite for subs and big bottom ends (ooo-er) the MC202 (you can use a 101 if you like - they are cheaper). It can go 2 octaves down on the sub, and mostly it manages to hold decent clarity down there - even the square wave doesn't sound too detuned (which alot of analogues suffered from - esp the Junos IMO - although they had a nice twang to them). It's marginal, but I prefer it to most VSTis - the very top end and the very bottom end are often where VSTis just don't cut it IMO.

If you really want huge bass that keeps the sub while letting you filter it also, so that you can have resonant squidges on the top without having to layer anything (and the subs will make you run to the toilet on most occasions), then I've not come across better than the MS10 (Strangely enough the MS20 can't keep up with the 10 on basses - I never understood why! Confused ). Not cheap nowadays - a pain in the arse to keep in tune, but Moogs and the popular ones pale into insignificance against an MS10 well programmed bassline.

Probably not what you were after ( I suspected you meant VSTis?) but honestly - I haven't heard a VSTi yet that can compete in that range.

guys what would be a good speaker to make and hear a good subbass sound. my subwoofer and speakers are 1200w and 30w(RMS). U think thats enough, or shoud i get more powerful ones. cuz i cant get good subbass quality its always buzzy. or maybe its just me who suck !

hehe Very Happy

uhmm that when an individual posts a thread on the kvr-vst.com forums, another similar thread will be created within a week.

basically.. we only talk about a few things here.. it just seems like we talk about a lot of things since we answer the same questions at least twice! Surprised

Ohh, and by the way I've used Mysteron to create subs before. And I'm not talking about sub marines.
