AuthorTopic: Bitshift Audio: Sell Windows Phatmatik to Cakewalk

Come on, Art, It's a great idea. You'll get a wad of cash, and be able to cut those pesky Microsoft apron strings forever. I'll bet Cakewalk would buy it, it would make a cool addition to the lineup. Plus, Cakewalk is Windows-only so you wouldn't need to worry about competition with your Mac-based products.

It's a great idea, admit it. That is, unless you want to be haunted by hordes of bitchy Windows Phat customers for the next six years. Six years! I know I couldn't take it. You are feeling sleepy, very sleepy.

I gotta whinge about bitshift. the one company i know that fails to deliver on every promise. what hapened to the august 1 week away bug fix of phatmatik 1.1..then the imminent release of 1.2?? it's 2004 guys. and they totally stuffed up tick on his mac angelina version. i've held this for quite some time, i'm not apologizing, and not taking it back, you can all flame me if you want, but i am genuinely fed up with them, and certainly will NOT be doing any future business with them ever again. just becasue they answer emails fast does not mean that we can be toyed around like this all the time. they are just way too unreliable. worst ever. even than NI.

if you want an alternative beat slicer please try the concretfx one. pc only but toally devoted to cutomer satisfaction

I'd rather see other more deserving developers take the 'sliced-loops' concept to the next level. (CFX Dicer)

If you're a cakewalk user, request that they beef up Cyclone development. Why nag them to buy a product that has clearly fallen in many ways?

There are quite a few choices out there...
Dicer
Intakt
Kontakt
Cyclone
VSampler 3
Orion
FLStudio
Muzys
BeatCreator

This is by no means a complete list, but what popped off the top of my head without thinking too much. Smile

Good find. I'm a big fan of mashing up audio and always appreciate the various goodies.

You bet... I have Dicer, Ethereal, Industry, & Granite and am totally happy with all of them, and with Jon's support.

oh but they ARE worse than steinberg. at least steinberg are trying to get their act together with regularly moderated support forums, and in all honesty, some of the users at those forums are extremely difficult immature children. so considering, the current moderaters aren't doing too badly. besides, at least steinberg has set dates recently and released the products on time. they're trying. bitshift just have deafening silence

Good point.

OT question: What happened with your Mac migration to use Logic 6? Did you get another PC too?

Personally, when deafening silence comes from someone I know online, I tend to worry first about their physical well-being before casting aspersions of willful disregard. Sad

On the other hand, when software developers go silent for long periods, I tend to suspect NDA clauses to be in effect (sorta like the recent Audiograbber news). Which made it an odd thing to read about people suggesting that Art sell off PPro to another company: I'd already had my suspicions of that!

Perhaps we'll hear something in time for NAMM.

(Full disclosure: My copy of PPro was free from beta testing *and* I'd like to think Art and I had a friendly relationship. Still, I'd like to know if I should be worried about him or just peeved for the silence! Confused )
